How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Assumption University requires a transcript evaluation from every international applicant who completed a degree at a foreign university, sent directly by the evaluating company: course-by-course when transfer credit is sought, otherwise a general evaluation that confirms the bachelor's degree and a cumulative GPA.
Assumption publishes no translation rule of its own.
Assumption's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; you order the translation first, and the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Assumption requirements in detail
Translation
No rule of its own; the evaluator needs the translation (International students FAQs).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency; see below.
Evaluation
Required for every international applicant who completed a degree at a foreign university (International students FAQs).
Report type
Course-by-course for transfer credit; otherwise a general evaluation confirming the bachelor's degree and cumulative GPA (International students FAQs).

Same rule; results go from the evaluator to the Office of Graduate Studies, 500 Salisbury Street, Worcester (graduate application).
First-year
Official secondary school records through the Common Application; no evaluation rule is published (apply).
Transfers
14 or more college credits: official college transcript; fewer: also the final high school transcript (Apply to Assumption).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Assumption lists five companies and endorses none, so the agency you pick sets the translation rule.
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept translations by applicants; ECE accepts any complete, word-for-word translation in the original format, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.
Josef Silny asks for certified translations by ATA-certified translators when made in the US, and sells its own; ACEI also asks for ATA-certified translators in the US.
If you choose either, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request: ask for a free quote and name the agency. CED does not publish its translation rule in the sources we read; ask it before ordering.
General or course-by-course: what Assumption needs
The report type depends on what you want from Assumption.
If you will be considered for transfer credit, it requires a course-by-course evaluation; otherwise a general evaluation, or another option, is enough as long as it confirms that you completed the bachelor's degree and gives a cumulative GPA (International students FAQs).
A general report costs less, but a transfer student who later wants credit would have to evaluate again.
Graduate applicants follow the same rule and the results go directly from the evaluator to the Graduate Studies mailing address (Applying to a graduate program).
The English minimums differ between pages: TOEFL 80 and IELTS 6.5 on the undergraduate apply page (Apply to Assumption), TOEFL 79-80 and IELTS 6.0 on the graduate page (Applying to a graduate program).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Assumption
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; the agency sends its results directly to Assumption (International students FAQs). First-year applicants send official secondary records through the Common Application (Apply to Assumption).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Assumption that means we translate your records; the general or course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from the agency, which sends it to Assumption.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my foreign transcripts evaluated for Assumption?
Yes, if you completed a degree at a foreign university (International students FAQs); the agency then asks for the translation.
Which evaluation company does Assumption accept?
It suggests ACEI, CED, ECE, Josef Silny and WES, without endorsing any (International students FAQs).
Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?
Only if you will be considered for transfer credit; otherwise a general evaluation that confirms the degree and GPA suffices (International students FAQs).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator if my agency requires one?
Yes, on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies into English. Josef Silny and ACEI ask for ATA-certified translators in the US.
Where does the evaluation go for graduate programs?
Directly from the evaluator to the Office of Graduate Studies, 500 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (Applying to a graduate program).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
