Requirements checked on October 28, 2026 from AGMU's public pages (sources).

Ana G. Méndez University (AGMU) requires a commercial translation or evaluation of every official transcript and diploma from outside the US that is not in English, for diploma, undergraduate, master's and doctoral admission.

Ana G. Méndez University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

For transfer credit, its Registrar evaluates transcripts from abroad in English or Spanish itself, and asks for a NACES course-by-course evaluation only for other languages; that evaluation is something we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript

This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice

  • Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
  • The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
  • Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
  • The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

AGMU requirements in detail

Translation

Official transcripts and diplomas from outside the US that are not in English need a commercial translation or evaluation (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

Who may translate

A commercial service; AGMU names no specific provider (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

Graduate admission

Same rule for master's and doctoral applicants; a bachelor's degree is shown by an official transcript or a certification from a recognized agency (AGMU: master's admission).

Transfer credit: English or Spanish

Evaluated by the Registrar's office with AACRAO EDGE (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

Transfer credit: other languages

A NACES member's course-by-course commercial evaluation, at the student's expense, received directly from the agency (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

English courses abroad

No General Education English credit; a placement test sets your English level (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

Timing

Official transcripts from other colleges within 45 calendar days of the start of the term, or enrollment may be canceled (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

Translation or evaluation, and the Spanish exception

AGMU's undergraduate and graduate admission pages use one sentence: records from outside the US that are not in English must have a commercial translation or evaluation. A professional certified translation meets the first option, and you keep the evaluation for when you need credit.

For credit, the transfer credit page is more lenient with Spanish: the Registrar evaluates transcripts from abroad that are in English or Spanish using AACRAO EDGE, the same way it treats regionally accredited US schools.

Only transcripts in other languages need a NACES course-by-course evaluation sent directly from the agency.

Where AGMU's pages differ

The admission pages ask for a commercial translation or evaluation of any record from abroad not in English, Spanish included. The transfer credit page says the Registrar evaluates Spanish-language transcripts itself.

If your records are in Spanish, ask your campus admissions officer whether a translation is still needed at admission before you order one.

Transfer credit from abroad

Transcripts from other colleges must reach AGMU within 45 calendar days of the start of your first term (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

Courses need a C or better (B for graduate programs), upper-division credits count only toward bachelor's programs, and core and major courses must be no more than 5 years old.

English courses taken outside the US earn no General Education English credit, so expect a placement test (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

Credits from any campus of the Sistema Universitario Ana G. Méndez in Puerto Rico transfer without a time limit.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school diploma and transcript
  • University transcripts and diplomas
  • Bachelor's degree and transcript, for graduate applicants

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to AGMU

  • Submit the original-language records with their translations to your AGMU campus admissions officer with the application, who checks each document for authenticity (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

  • For transfer credit in a language other than English or Spanish, the NACES agency sends its course-by-course report directly to AGMU (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For AGMU that means we translate your diplomas and transcripts; a NACES course-by-course evaluation, needed for transfer credit from records in languages other than English or Spanish, comes from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of translation does AGMU accept?

A commercial translation of records not in English; a commercial evaluation is the alternative (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission).

My transcripts are in Spanish. Do I need a translation?

For transfer credit, the Registrar evaluates Spanish transcripts itself (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit). The admission pages still ask for a commercial translation or evaluation of records not in English (AGMU: diploma and undergraduate admission); check with admissions.

When do I need a NACES evaluation?

For transfer credit from transcripts in a language other than English or Spanish (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

Do graduate applicants follow the same rule?

Yes, master's and doctoral applicants need a commercial translation or evaluation too (AGMU: master's admission).

Will my English courses from abroad count?

No General Education English credit is awarded for them; you take a placement test (AGMU: awarding of transfer credit).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
