How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board tells teachers educated outside the United States to start with a course-by-course evaluation of their college or university transcripts by a current NACES member, and to apply through the traditional route once it shows a bachelor's degree equivalent and a teacher preparation program.

PTSB has no translation rule of its own; the evaluation agency sets it, and WES, a NACES member, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

We translate your transcripts and diploma for the agency; the evaluation and PTSB's licensing decision are separate.

Wyoming PTSB at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Wyoming PTSB names current NACES members as its approved transcript evaluation services (international applicants), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a translation by a professional translator or certified translation agency (WES translation rules), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the agency's rule. Wyoming PTSB requirements in detail

Translation

PTSB publishes no translation rule of its own; documents not in English are translated for the evaluation agency, under its rule (International applicants).

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency. WES asks for a professional translator (WES); IEE accepts certified translators but not the applicant (IEE); ECE accepts a word-for-word translation by anyone (ECE).

Evaluation

Your first step is to have your college or university transcripts evaluated for US equivalency, and PTSB asks you to request a course-by-course evaluation (International applicants).

Which agency

Current members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, which PTSB treats as its approved transcript evaluation services (International applicants, NACES members).

What qualifies you

The equivalent of a bachelor's degree and completion of a teacher preparation program; you then apply through the traditional route (International applicants).

Official transcripts

For the traditional route, official transcripts must be sent directly to PTSB by the degree-granting institution (Becoming licensed in Wyoming).

Visiting Foreign Teacher Permit

For teachers hosted by a Wyoming district: valid one year, for experienced teachers licensed in their own country who pass a PTSB-approved English proficiency test (International applicants).

The evaluation comes before the application

PTSB's international page puts the order plainly: determine the US equivalency of your education program first, by having your transcripts evaluated by a NACES member, and begin the initial licensure process once you have the results (International applicants).

With a bachelor's equivalent and a completed teacher preparation program you may qualify through the traditional route, which also asks for fingerprints, knowledge of the US and Wyoming Constitutions and the teacher tests (Becoming licensed in Wyoming).

The translation therefore sits at the very start. The agency cannot evaluate a transcript it cannot read, and the course-by-course report PTSB asks for depends on every subject, hour and grade being rendered in English. We translate them as recorded and never convert grades.

Choosing a NACES member

PTSB links the NACES member list rather than naming agencies (NACES members), so the choice of agency, and its translation rule, is yours.

WES does not translate and does not accept applicants' own translations; it wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, uploaded in your WES account (WES).

ECE accepts your own word-for-word translation or translates for its report under an $85 waiver (ECE). Tell the agency the report is for Wyoming teacher licensure and that PTSB wants it course by course (International applicants).

Need a certified translation for Wyoming PTSB?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • University diploma or degree certificate
  • University transcripts and mark sheets, all years
  • Teacher preparation program records, including student teaching
  • Foreign teaching license or certificate, for a Visiting Foreign Teacher Permit
  • Course descriptions, when the agency asks for them

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Wyoming PTSB

  • The translations go to the NACES agency with your records, under its instructions (WES, for example, takes uploads in your WES account). The agency prepares the course-by-course evaluation.

  • With the results in hand, you begin the initial licensure process with PTSB (International applicants). Ask PTSB whether it wants the evaluation sent by the agency or uploaded with your application in its online portal.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Wyoming PTSB that means we translate your records for the NACES agency; the course-by-course evaluation, the teacher tests and PTSB's licensing decision are outside what we do.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Which evaluation agencies does Wyoming PTSB accept?

Current NACES members, which PTSB treats as approved transcript evaluation services (International applicants).

What kind of evaluation does PTSB want?

Course by course; PTSB asks you to request that type from the agency (International applicants).

Who may translate my documents for the evaluation?

The agency decides. WES asks for a professional translator and does not accept applicants' own translations (WES: translation requirements). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that rule.

Can a district bring me in before I am fully licensed?

A Wyoming district can host you on a Visiting Foreign Teacher Permit, valid one year, if you are an experienced teacher licensed in your country and pass a PTSB-approved English test (International applicants).
