How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The Nevada Department of Education requires a foreign transcript to come with an evaluation by an approved independent agency (NACES or AICE members, Global Education Group or the Institute of Foreign Credential Services), and that evaluation must include a photocopy of the transcript, an original course-by-course evaluation and a photocopy of the translation if the transcript is not in English.
Nevada does not say who must translate, and WES, a NACES member, accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. We translate the transcript for the agency; the evaluation comes from the agency.
Nevada NDE at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Nevada NDE wants a photocopy of the translation inside an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member or two other named services (foreign educators); WES is a NACES member (NACES members) and accepts a translation by a professional translator or certified translation agency (WES translation rules), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets the agency's rule. Nevada NDE requirements in detail
Translation
If the transcript is not in English, the evaluation package must include a photocopy of its translation (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Who may translate
Evaluation
An evaluation by an independent agency approved under NAC 391.050, with a photocopy of the transcript and an original course-by-course evaluation showing degree equivalency (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Accepted services
Members of NACES or AICE, Global Education Group, or the Institute of Foreign Credential Services (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Canada
A Canadian transcript needs this only if it is not in English (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Transcripts
Do not upload transcripts yourself in OPAL; official paper goes to the Las Vegas office, electronic ones only from the issuer or a clearinghouse (official transcripts).
Returns
Foreign evaluations are returned only in person or with a self-addressed stamped envelope (Information about official transcripts).
Three pieces in one package
Nevada spells out what the evaluation must contain: a photocopy of the transcript that was evaluated, an original course-by-course evaluation showing degree equivalency, and, for a transcript not in English, a photocopy of its translation (New teachers (foreign educators)).
The translation therefore reaches the Office of Educator Licensure inside the agency's package, next to the transcript it translates, so staff can check one against the other.
That makes completeness matter: every page of the transcript, front and back, with stamps and grading scale. We translate all of it and keep grades as recorded, and you keep the PDF of the certified translation for any later request from NDE.
Reciprocity for licensed teachers
If you hold a valid, non-provisional license from another country, Nevada may grant a reciprocal license case by case, usually waiving its tests; original transcripts, the foreign transcript evaluation and copies of your licenses are still required, uploaded in OPAL in the out-of-state licensure section (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Nevada's pages do not say whether a license in another language needs a translation; if yours is not in English, ask NDE before you upload the copy.
All applicants also complete NDE's own background check, separate from any check by the employing district (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Where Nevada's pages differ
The foreign educators page lists three items in the evaluation, including the original course-by-course evaluation (New teachers (foreign educators)); the official transcripts page lists only the photocopies of the transcript and the translation (Information about official transcripts).
Plan for the longer list. Ask the agency to include a copy of your translation in the report it sends.
Need a certified translation for Nevada NDE?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to Nevada NDE
The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your transcript, under that agency's instructions; the evaluation package Nevada receives must include a photocopy of the translation (New teachers (foreign educators)).
Your application, licenses from another country and supporting documents go through OPAL; official transcripts come from the issuer, not from you (Information about official transcripts).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For Nevada NDE that means we translate your transcript and licenses; the course-by-course evaluation and the reciprocity decision come from the agency and NDE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.

Yes, if it is not in English: a photocopy of the translation goes with the agency's evaluation (New teachers (foreign educators)).

Can I upload my transcripts myself?
No. NDE rejects transcripts uploaded by applicants (Information about official transcripts).
