How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The Louisiana Department of Education accepts foreign transcript evaluations for teacher certification only from agencies that are endorsed members in good standing of NACES or AICE, a rule in force since May 20, 2024.
NACES members such as WES and ECE accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, so the translation goes to the agency with your records before it writes the evaluation.
We translate the transcripts and diplomas; the evaluation and the certification decision are outside what we do.
LDOE at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
LDOE accepts evaluations only from endorsed members in good standing of NACES or AICE (foreign credential evaluating agencies), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE accepts any complete word-for-word translation (ECE).
A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Worth knowing about LDOE

May 20, 2024
The date the membership rule replaced the old list.
Older evaluations
Reports dated earlier still count if from a listed agency.
LDOE requirements in detail
Translation
LDOE's certification pages publish no translator rule of their own; the evaluation agency reads your records and applies its rule.
Who may translate
Evaluation
From an agency that is an endorsed member in good standing of NACES or AICE; LDOE tells you to confirm membership in their directories (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Evaluations dated before May 20, 2024
Still usable if done by one of the 35 previously approved agencies on LDOE's list (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Where the rule is published
The agencies list is linked from the certification home on Teach Louisiana, LDOE's certification site (Certification home (teachlouisiana.net)).
The May 20, 2024 change
Louisiana used to publish its own list of approved evaluation agencies.
Since May 20, 2024, it accepts evaluations only from endorsed members in good standing of NACES or AICE, and asks you to check their member directories when you choose (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Evaluations dated before that day remain valid if they came from one of the 35 agencies on the old list, which included ECE, Educational Perspectives, IERF, Josef Silny and SpanTran.
If you already hold an older evaluation from an agency that is not a NACES or AICE member today, check the date on the report before ordering a new one.
What each agency asks for the translation
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept one made by the applicant (WES).
ECE accepts a complete, literal translation from anyone, including you, or translates for its report under an $85 waiver (ECE). Other NACES and AICE members publish their own rules; some accept only ATA-certified translators.
Need a certified translation for LDOE?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- University transcripts and mark sheets from your teacher preparation program
- Degree certificates and diplomas
- Your teaching license or certificate from another country, if the agency asks for it
- Records of practice teaching, when listed separately
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to LDOE
The translation goes to the NACES or AICE agency with your records, following that agency's instructions; the evaluation it produces is the transcript LDOE uses for certification (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Certification applications and forms are listed on Teach Louisiana's certification pages (Certification home (teachlouisiana.net)); ask LDOE or your employing school system how the evaluation should reach it.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For LDOE that means we translate your records; the evaluation comes from a NACES or AICE member, and certification is decided by LDOE.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Louisiana need a translation of my transcripts?
LDOE accepts foreign transcripts through an evaluation from a NACES or AICE member (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)); the agency needs your records in English under its own rule. WES, for example, wants a professional translator (WES: translation requirements).
Which evaluation agencies does Louisiana accept?
Since May 20, 2024, endorsed members in good standing of NACES or AICE (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Is my older evaluation still valid?
If it is dated before May 20, 2024 and came from one of the previously approved agencies on LDOE's list, yes (Louisiana approved foreign credential evaluating agencies (teachlouisiana.net)).
Can I translate my own transcripts?
It depends on the agency. WES does not accept translations by applicants (WES: translation requirements); ECE does, if word-for-word (ECE: documentation requirements).
