How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board asks teachers trained outside the United States to meet the same academic requirements as US applicants and to submit a course-by-course evaluation from an approved agency, pointing to the NACES member list; it publishes no translation rule of its own.

NACES members such as WES and ECE accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, so the translation goes to the agency with your records.

We translate your transcripts, diplomas and teaching credential; the evaluation and the certification decision are outside what we do.

Kentucky EPSB at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Kentucky requires a course-by-course evaluation from an approved agency and refers applicants to the NACES members (EPSB requirements), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE accepts any complete word-for-word translation (ECE).

A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Kentucky EPSB requirements in detail

Translation

EPSB publishes no translator rule; the evaluation agency reads your records and applies its own rule (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

Who may translate

Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator, not the applicant (WES); ECE accepts a complete word-for-word translation by anyone (ECE).

Evaluation

A course-by-course evaluation from an approved agency showing the foreign degree meets the criteria; EPSB points to the NACES member list (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

Academic requirements

A four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent with a teacher preparation program, student teaching, and a 2.75 cumulative GPA or 3.0 on the last 30 hours (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

Teaching credential

A copy of your foreign teaching credential, in a teaching area Kentucky recognizes (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

Regulation

Out-of-state preparation falls under 16 KAR 4:030, which has no translation provision.

What the evaluation has to show

Kentucky does not convert foreign degrees itself.

Its requirements for candidates trained outside the US list a four-year degree or its equivalent that includes a sequence of professional education courses, a practice or student teaching component, a GPA of 2.75 overall or 3.0 on the last 30 hours, a copy of your foreign teaching credential, and a teaching area Kentucky certifies; the course-by-course evaluation is what proves the first three (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

So the agency needs every course, grade and practicum line in English. We translate grades exactly as they appear and never convert them; the agency computes the GPA.

Where Kentucky publishes its rules now

The EPSB certification page sends applicants to GoTeachKY, the Department of Education's resource site for certification pathways (EPSB, EPSB GoTeachKY page).

Older EPSB addresses for out-of-state educators no longer load; the current requirements for teachers trained abroad are on the GoTeachKY page for educators trained out of state (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US).

The foreign teaching credential is the one document the Board asks you for directly, as a copy (Educators trained out of state, including outside the US); if it is not in English, translate it together with the records you send the agency.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Kentucky that means we translate your records and teaching credential; the evaluation comes from a NACES member, and EPSB decides the certificate.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
