How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

Idaho Teacher Certification asks educators prepared abroad for a written evaluation of their foreign credential and transcripts from an AICE or NACES member, with a course-by-course summary, and for a translation of the foreign teaching license when one is available.

NACES members such as WES and ECE accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, so you order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records.

We translate the transcripts, diploma and license; the evaluation itself comes from the agency you choose.

Idaho Teacher Certification at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Idaho requires a written evaluation from an AICE or NACES approved organization (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators), and WES, a NACES member, accepts a translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); ECE accepts any complete word-for-word translation (ECE).

A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Worth knowing about Idaho Teacher Certification

One packet

Every document goes in the same mailed packet, with the $75 fee.

Idaho Teacher Certification requirements in detail

Translation

Idaho publishes no translator rule for transcripts; the evaluation agency reads them under its own rule. For the copy of your out-of-country teaching license, Idaho asks you to include a translation if one is available (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency: WES wants a professional translator, not the applicant (WES); ECE accepts a word-for-word translation by anyone (ECE).

Evaluation

A written evaluation from an AICE or NACES approved organization that verifies academic equivalency to American education, including a course-by-course transcript summary (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

Who it is for

Educators who completed a preparation program in another country and hold a current credential to teach there (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

Experience

A Certificated Professional Experience Report, letters of recommendation from the out-of-country educational agency, or teacher evaluations (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

How to submit

One complete packet with the signed application, the $75 non-refundable fee and a background check, mailed to Teacher Certification, PO Box 83720, Boise (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

Two different translations in one Idaho packet

Idaho's checklist touches translation twice.

Your transcripts and diploma go to the AICE or NACES agency, which needs them in English before it can write the course-by-course summary Idaho asks for (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators); the agency's rule decides who may translate them.

Separately, Idaho asks for a copy of your current out-of-country license or certificate and to include its translation, if available.

Ordering both at once keeps the packet consistent: the name of your teaching qualification reads the same in the license translation and in the transcript the agency evaluates. We keep the original title next to the English one so Idaho can match them.

What each agency asks for the translation

WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not accept one made by the applicant (WES).

ECE accepts a complete, literal translation from anyone, including you, or translates for its report under an $85 waiver (ECE).

Other AICE and NACES members set their own rules, and some accept only ATA-certified translators; check the agency's page before you order.

Pitfalls in the Idaho packet

Idaho considers an application complete only when every required document arrives in one packet (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

An evaluation that is still pending, or a translation sent later, leaves the file incomplete, so time the translation to reach the agency early. The fee is non-refundable, and cards are accepted only for walk-in applications.

The interim certificate is for educators who already hold a credential to teach in another country. If you are not yet licensed abroad, ask Teacher Certification which other certificate fits before you pay.

Need a certified translation for Idaho Teacher Certification?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • University transcripts and mark sheets from your teacher preparation program, for the evaluation
  • Degree certificate or diploma
  • Your current out-of-country teaching license or certificate
  • Letters of recommendation from the out-of-country educational agency
  • Teacher evaluations or service records showing your experience

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Idaho Teacher Certification

  • The transcript and diploma translations go to the AICE or NACES agency with your records, following its instructions; the agency's written evaluation then goes in your Idaho packet (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

  • The translation of your foreign teaching license goes in the same packet, next to the copy of the license, mailed to the Idaho Department of Education, Teacher Certification, PO Box 83720, Boise, Idaho 83720-0027 (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Idaho that means we translate your records and license; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from an AICE or NACES agency, and the certificate decision is Idaho's.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does Idaho need a translation of my transcripts?

Idaho asks for a written AICE or NACES evaluation of your foreign credential and transcripts (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators); the agency needs them in English under its own rule. WES, for example, wants a professional translator (WES: translation requirements).

Do I need to translate my foreign teaching license?

Idaho asks for a copy of your current out-of-country license and to include a translation if available (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators). It does not say who must make it; a certified translation is the safe choice.

Which evaluation agency should I use?

Any organization approved by NACES or AICE that evaluates foreign credentials, with a course-by-course transcript summary (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

Can I send documents separately?

No. Idaho treats an application as complete only when all required documents arrive in one packet (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators).

How much does the application cost?

The application fee is $75, non-refundable, plus the background check processing fee (Interim Certificate for Foreign Educators). The evaluation and the translation are paid separately.
