Idaho Board of Nursing: Translation Requirements for Documents in Another Language

How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Idaho Board of Nursing asks nurses educated outside the US and Canada for a course-by-course evaluation from one of eight approved evaluators, and when a foreign license verification comes straight from the issuing authority, a translation prepared by a recognized translator.

ERES, on the approved list, accepts certified English translations, so a certified translation from eVerbary works there; Josef Silny, The Evaluation Company and ACEI take outside translations from ATA-certified translators, whom eVerbary assigns on request.

TruMerit and IEE have nursing records translated by the school or by themselves, and we do not provide the evaluation.

Idaho BON at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Idaho approves Educational Records Evaluation Service among its international credential evaluators (Foreign Educated Nurses), and ERES accepts certified English translations submitted with the original-language documents (ERES help center); for a foreign license verification, the Board asks for a translation prepared by a recognized translator (Licensure Policy).

A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets both. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Educational Perspectives: Nursing Licensure Evaluation Report.

Idaho BON requirements in detail

Translation

For a verification of licensure sent directly by the foreign government body, a translation of the document if not in English, prepared by a recognized translator (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria). Records for the evaluation follow the evaluator's rule.

Who may translate

ERES accepts certified English translations (ERES: help center); Josef Silny wants ATA-certified translators for translations made in the US (Josef Silny & Associates: services); The Evaluation Company accepts outside translators only if ATA-certified (The Evaluation Company: avoid delays); TruMerit and IEE have the school or themselves translate nursing records (TruMerit, IEE).

Approved evaluators

TruMerit (formerly CGFNS), Josef Silny & Associates, International Education Evaluators (IEE), ERES, The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran), Institute of Foreign Credential Services, Educational Perspectives (Nursing Licensure Evaluation Report only) and ACEI (Foreign Educated Nurses, May 2026).

Education

A course-by-course evaluation by a Board-approved agency, or a TruMerit Certification Program credential, a JS&A Certification credential or a VisaScreen credential (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria).

License

A TruMerit or JS&A report validating your foreign license, or a verification sent directly by the issuing authority with official seal, signatures and translation (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria).

English proficiency

Native English, an English-language program in an English-speaking country, CNATS or CRNE in English, or an HRSA-listed test; graduates from Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand and the UK are exempt (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria).

Two translations Idaho can ask for

Idaho's International Nurse Licensure Criteria, revised January 2025, ask for evidence of equivalent education and evidence of an unencumbered foreign license (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria).

The education goes through an approved evaluator, under that evaluator's translation rule.

The license can be shown either through a TruMerit or JS&A report, or through a verification sent directly by the government body that issued it, with a translation by a recognized translator if it is not in English.

If your licensing authority sends the verification itself, ask whether it can include the translation or whether the Board will match one sent separately; the policy does not say who sends it. We translate the seals, signatures and license status lines along with the text.

Which evaluator, and who translates for it

The Board's notice of May 2026 lists eight evaluators (Foreign Educated Nurses, May 2026).

ERES says documents not issued in English generally need a certified English translation and that you may submit one with your originals (ERES).

Josef Silny, The Evaluation Company and ACEI accept outside translations made in the US only from ATA-certified translators (JS&A, TEC, ACEI).

TruMerit has nursing transcripts translated by the school or by TruMerit (TruMerit), and IEE's nursing handbook says it does not accept translations directly from applicants (IEE).

Educational Perspectives is accepted only for its Nursing Licensure Evaluation Report (Foreign Educated Nurses, May 2026); another report type from that agency will not count.

Need a certified translation for Idaho BON?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Nursing school transcripts and mark sheets, for the evaluator
  • Nursing diploma or degree certificate
  • Foreign nursing license and its verification
  • Course descriptions with clinical hours, where the evaluator needs them
  • Name-change records such as a marriage certificate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Idaho BON

  • The translation of your education records goes to the evaluator with your documents, under its instructions; ERES takes certified translations together with the originals (ERES: help center).

Once the Board confirms eligibility, it invites you to submit the internationally educated application and fees and register for the NCLEX (Foreign Educated Nurses, May 2026).

  • A foreign license verification sent by the issuing authority must carry its translation by a recognized translator (Licensure Policy: International Nurse Licensure Criteria); questions go to HP-Licensing@dopl.idaho.gov.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Idaho BON, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Idaho that means we translate your records and license; the evaluation comes from one of the eight approved evaluators, and the verification itself from your licensing authority.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
