How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026

The Arizona State Board of Nursing publishes no translation rule of its own: nurses educated outside the US, including Canada and Puerto Rico, need an education report from TruMerit (formerly CGFNS), ERES or Josef Silny & Associates, sent to the Board by the agency.

ERES accepts certified English translations submitted with your original-language documents, so a certified translation from eVerbary works there; Josef Silny takes translations made in the US from ATA-certified translators, whom eVerbary assigns on request.

TruMerit has nursing transcripts translated by the school or by itself, and we do not provide any evaluation report.

Arizona BON at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Arizona accepts an Education Equivalency Report from Educational Records Evaluation Services (Foreign Educated Requirements), and ERES says applicants may submit certified English translations with their original-language documents (ERES help center), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Worth knowing about Arizona BON

Three agencies

TruMerit, ERES or Josef Silny & Associates.

Sent by the agency

Education and English reports go straight to AZBN.

English before NCLEX

Exam applicants meet English proficiency first.

Arizona BON requirements in detail

Translation

No board rule of its own; the agency you choose reads your records under its own translation rule (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

Who may translate

ERES accepts certified English translations (ERES: help center); Josef Silny accepts outside translators who are ATA-certified when the translation is made in the US (Josef Silny & Associates: services); TruMerit has the school or itself translate nursing transcripts (TruMerit: CES Professional Report).

Approved reports

TruMerit CES Professional Report, VisaScreen or Certification (no Certification for practical nurses); ERES Education Equivalency Report; or Josef Silny's 'licensing for nursing, basic report' (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

How it arrives

All information from the education and English proficiency agencies must be sent directly to AZBN by the agency (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

English proficiency

Required when the nursing program was in a language other than English, through TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic or another listed test, before the NCLEX for exam applicants (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

Canada

Canadian-educated nurses may have the Canadian licensing board send exam, education and active license verification directly to AZBN (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

Which agency, and who translates for it

Arizona leaves the choice among three agencies to you (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements), and the choice decides who may translate.

ERES says documents not issued in English generally need a certified English translation and that you may submit one with your original-language documents; it also offers its own translation (ERES).

Josef Silny wants professional translations, and for those made in the US a translator certified by the American Translators Association (JS&A).

TruMerit works differently: for its CES Professional Report, nursing transcripts are translated by the school or by TruMerit (TruMerit), so an outside translation of nursing records is not used there.

Where Arizona's page is easy to misread

Under the TruMerit option, Arizona's list shows four items, and the fourth is "International Education Evaluations" (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements). It sits inside the TruMerit list rather than as a separate agency; ask the Board before ordering a report from IEE for Arizona.

Graduates after September 15, 2006 whose program has an NCSBN code must still get a TruMerit or ERES report covering education and English proficiency (Apply for a License: Foreign Educated Requirements).

RN endorsement applicants who later earned a US BSN or graduate nursing degree and worked 960 hours in five years can skip the foreign education report, but that exception rules out a multistate license.

Need a certified translation for Arizona BON?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Nursing school transcripts and mark sheets, for the agency
  • Nursing diploma or degree certificate
  • Nursing license or registration from the country of education
  • Secondary school records, if the agency asks for them
  • Name-change records such as a marriage certificate

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to Arizona BON

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Arizona BON, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.

For Arizona that means we translate the records the agency asks for; the education report comes from TruMerit, ERES or Josef Silny, ordered by you.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
