How we know · policy checked on October 21, 2026
The Alaska State Medical Board requires every foreign-language document to be a certified true copy accompanied by a certified translation into English by a recognized translator.
The Alaska State Medical Board accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, since the rule names no particular kind of translator.
The certified true copy of the original itself is not something we provide, and medical education, ECFMG and training are verified by the sources or through FCVS.
Alaska Medical Board at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
The Board's application addendum asks for "a certified translation into English by a recognized translator" (form 08-4675), so a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets it. Policy checked on October 21, 2026.

Alaska Medical Board requirements in detail
Translation
All foreign-language documents need a certified translation into English (form 08-4675).
Who may translate
A recognized translator; the form sets no further condition (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
Original or copy
The foreign-language documents themselves must be certified true copies (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
IMG requirements
Graduation from a school in the World Directory of Medical Schools, three years of postgraduate training in accredited programs in the US or Canada, pain and opioid education, and an ECFMG certificate (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
Verifications
Medical school verification from the school or FCVS; ECFMG certification from ECFMG or FCVS; exam scores from the exam board (checklist).
Fees
$400 nonrefundable application fee plus $350 license fee, $750 in total (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
Timing
Four to six weeks for a temporary license; eight to twelve weeks or more for full licensure (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
A certified copy and a certified translation
Alaska's rule has two parts that are easy to merge into one.
The foreign-language document must be a certified true copy, and it must be accompanied by a certified translation into English by a recognized translator (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
Our certified translation covers the second part. The certified true copy of your diploma, license or marriage certificate is a separate step, usually done by the issuing office or another body that certifies copies.
Keep the translation and the certified copy together when you send them, so the Board can match each English page with the original.
What FCVS and ECFMG cover in Alaska
The Board accepts the FSMB credentials verification service, which sends a Physician Information Profile with certified photocopies of your credentials directly to the Board (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
The checklist lets medical school verification and the ECFMG report come either from the source or from FCVS.
ECFMG has its own translation rule for documents uploaded to it: word-for-word, by a professional translation service, never your own (ECFMG).
The Board's rule therefore matters most for what you send yourself: name-change records, a foreign license or good-standing letter, and documents the Board asks for during review.
Where the Alaska forms differ
The addendum warns that a form received from a source other than the Division or its website may be outdated and that applications on a superseded version are rejected (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
The copy we read is revision 09/20/2024, published with the FSMB Uniform Application; the Division's own site (Alaska State Medical Board) did not allow automated reading when we checked. Confirm the current version with the Division before you file.

- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
- Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.
Submitting the translation to Alaska Medical Board
Send the certified translation with the certified true copy of the foreign-language document to the Board with your application or when the licensing examiner asks for it; contact details are on the Board's site (Alaska State Medical Board).
Credentials that FCVS or ECFMG verify go to the Board from them, under their own rules (Alaska State Medical Board: addendum to the Uniform Application, form 08-4675).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service or a licensing agency: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we cannot send documents on behalf of the school or authority that issued them, and we do not file the license application.
For Alaska that means we translate your documents; we do not certify true copies of your originals, order your FCVS profile or request your ECFMG report.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
