Notarised, and increasingly electronic
An Uzbek power (ishonchnoma) for significant acts is notarised, and Uzbekistan has moved notarial acts onto a unified electronic system where an act can be verified and a revocation recorded.
A recent power may carry a QR code and a register reference rather than only a wet seal. That is the current form, not a lesser one, and we transcribe the reference.
Powers granted abroad, and the apostille
Uzbekistan is a party to the Apostille Convention, so a power signed before a US notary and apostilled is a normal route, and Uzbek consulates also exercise notarial functions.
A foreign power for use in Uzbekistan needs a notarially certified Uzbek translation. Our certified translation serves the US side; we say which side each covers.
Property, and the cadastre
Uzbek property is recorded in the state cadastre with a cadastral number, and a power authorising a disposal must enumerate the act and identify the property.
A general administration power is refused for a sale. We reproduce the enumerated acts and the cadastral number exactly.
Two alphabets, and the patronymic
Uzbek is written in both Latin and Cyrillic and both are in official use, so a name may appear one way on the power and another on an older document. One name, two scripts.
Names may carry a Russian-style patronymic ending in -ovich or -ovna, which is not a middle name. See our Uzbek page.
