Usually already in English
Tanzanian universities teach in English, and degree certificates are generally printed in English. A certificate entirely in English needs no translation for USCIS, an employer or a US university, and we will tell you so before you order.
Universities are regulated by the Tanzania Commission for Universities. A US credential evaluator normally wants the degree certificate together with the transcript, and some insist on receiving results directly from the university, so ask the evaluator what it accepts before sending anything.
What does need translating
The parts that do need translating are Swahili ones: a stamp, a verification letter, a certificate from a college that issues in Swahili, or a provisional results letter. We translate those in full and leave the English parts as they are, unless the receiving office wants a complete bilingual translation.
Abroad, a degree used for work may also need legalising, since Tanzania is outside the Apostille Convention; USCIS does not ask for that. See our academic transcript page, our WES translation page and our Swahili page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.
Frequently asked questions
My degree certificate is in English.
Then it needs no translation. Send it as it is, with the transcript if the evaluator asks.
The university's verification letter is in Swahili.
We translate it in full, with the signature block and stamp.
Can you get my degree verified?
No. Verification is done by the university or the evaluator. We translate what they issue.
Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?
Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
