No legal separation, and a court divorce
Slovak law provides no legal separation. Divorce is granted by court where relations are so seriously and permanently broken that the marriage cannot fulfil its purpose, and there is no purely administrative route.
So a Slovak client has no separation papers and must have a judgment. We name the court and reproduce the case number and the date.
Children are decided with the divorce
A Slovak court deciding a divorce must also decide arrangements for minor children — custody and maintenance — in the same or a linked proceeding, and the divorce cannot take effect without it.
So the judgment covers more than the dissolution, and a US reader who reads only the operative dissolution line misses the custody and maintenance terms. We translate the whole operative part.
The finality clause
A Slovak judgment carries a doložka právoplatnosti confirming it is final, and without it the judgment is not usable abroad.

The marriage record, and the -ová
The divorce is recorded against the marriage entry at the matrika and a spouse may revert to a pre-marriage surname by declaration within a defined period.
