Marks out of 20
Senegalese transcripts (relevé de notes) follow the French system: every mark is out of 20, and 10 is a pass. A mark of 14 is a good result, not a failure, and a US reader who does not know that will misread the page. We keep the marks exactly as printed and never convert them; converting is the job of a credential evaluator. See our credential evaluation page.
Universities run the licence-master-doctorate (LMD) system, so a university transcript lists teaching units (unités d'enseignement), credits and semester averages, with the decision of the exam board (admis, ajourné). Those terms are translated consistently across all your transcripts. See our French page.
The baccalauréat transcript and duplicates
For secondary school, the key transcript is the baccalauréat results sheet from the Office du Baccalauréat, attached to Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. It gives the mark for each subject with its weighting (coefficient) and the overall honours (mention). The Office handles duplicates and corrections online only, and says no intermediary acts in its name.
Evaluators usually want the transcript and the diploma together; see the high school diploma and university diploma pages. If a course description is also needed, see our course description page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.
Frequently asked questions
Will you convert my marks to a US GPA?
No. We translate them as printed. A credential evaluator does the conversion.
What does "ajourné" mean on my transcript?
It means the student did not pass that session. We translate it consistently and keep the original term visible.
I lost my bac transcript.
The Office du Baccalauréat issues duplicates through its online service. We translate the duplicate like the original.
Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?
Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
