Who issues the record
Cambodian secondary schools keep pupils' results under the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, and a school record is usually a Khmer document signed by the school director with the school seal. Universities issue their own transcripts, which at many institutions, private ones especially, are already bilingual Khmer and English. We translate every subject, credit, mark and seal, and every Khmer-only line on a bilingual transcript.
Not every institution answers to the Education ministry: some health, agriculture and technical schools sit under their own ministries, and the transcript header names that ministry. We translate the header as printed, because an evaluator uses it to identify the awarding authority. See our Khmer translation page.
Grades, numerals and evaluations
Cambodian transcripts use letter grades or marks out of a set total depending on the level and institution, and older or school-level records may write the marks in Khmer numerals. We render every figure in Western digits, translate the grading legend if one is printed, and do not convert anything to a US scale. That is the credential evaluator's job, and a translator who converts grades produces a document the evaluator cannot rely on.
Records from the 1980s and early 1990s, when the school system was being rebuilt, can be on improvised forms or handwritten. We translate them as they are and mark any illegible entry. For the leaving certificate itself, see our high school diploma and university diploma pages.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.
Frequently asked questions
My university transcript is already in English.
If every entry, signature block and seal appears in English, the receiving office may accept it as it is. Anything only in Khmer, such as a seal or a stamped note, needs translating.
Can you convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. We translate the grades and the legend as printed. Conversion is for a credential evaluator.
My nursing school was under the Ministry of Health.
That is common for medical and nursing schools. We translate the header and seals exactly so the evaluator can see who awarded the qualification.
Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?
Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
