Degrees, accreditation and the awarding ministry

Cambodian degree certificates are issued by the university itself and are frequently bilingual, Khmer with an English version of the degree title. Under a 2003 royal decree the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia accredits higher education, and many institutions are supervised by a ministry other than Education. We translate the degree, field, faculty, date, signatories and seals as printed.

Where the certificate already gives an English degree title, we keep the institution's own wording rather than substituting ours, because an evaluator will compare it with the transcript. Older degrees from law and medical faculties may also carry French. See our Khmer translation page.

Diploma, transcript and name

US evaluators and licensing boards read the degree certificate together with the transcript, so send both if you have them. See our transcript page.

Some universities romanise the graduate's name themselves, and the result may differ from the passport. We follow the passport in our translation of the Khmer and note the university's spelling where it appears. Whether a degree is recognised is not something a translation can establish; that is for the evaluator or receiving institution.

What USCIS requires

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.

How it works

Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.

A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.

Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.

Certified vs. standard translation

A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.

A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.

Frequently asked questions

My diploma already has English on it.

If every entry and seal appears in English, translation may not be needed. Khmer-only parts are translated.

Is my Cambodian degree recognised in the US?

We cannot say. Recognition is for a credential evaluator or the receiving institution.

My diploma also has French.

We translate the French and the Khmer together in one certified translation.

Is acceptance by universities, colleges and schools guaranteed?

Yes. Our certified translations are guaranteed to be accepted by universities, colleges and schools in the United States — and by USCIS, the NVC, courts, government agencies and employers — or your money back. The guarantee covers the translation itself, not the original document or the admission decision, and it covers credential evaluation agencies such as WES and ECE as well. Full terms are in our refund policy.
