The Grade 12 national exam, or Bac II
Upper secondary school in Cambodia ends with the Grade 12 national examination, widely called Bac II, set and marked by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. Candidates sit either a science or a social-science track, and results are graded A to E, E being the lowest pass. The certificate carries the ministry's seal and is in Khmer.
It gives the candidate's name, date and place of birth, the exam session, the track, the examination centre or candidate number and the overall grade. Each is translated; the grade letter is kept as printed. See our Khmer translation page.
Provisional results and older certificates
Students usually receive a provisional pass certificate or result slip some time before the final certificate is ready. Either can be translated, and the translation keeps the document's own title so a US school can see which it is holding.
Certificates from the 1980s and 1990s may follow older layouts, show the name of the ministry as it then was or have handwritten entries. We translate them as written. A date of birth on an exam certificate sometimes differs from a late-registered birth certificate; we translate each faithfully rather than reconciling them. For subject marks, see our transcript page.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.
State agencies set their own rules — see government agencies — and what our certification states is on this page.
How it works
Upload a photo or a scan of your document, pick the language pair and check out online. You never have to mail originals: a legible copy is all we need.
A professional human translator, never machine translation, translates the document word for word and mirrors the layout of the original. Every certified translation ships with a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy that meets the requirements of USCIS, courts and universities.
Your translation is delivered digitally, usually within 24 hours for documents of one to three pages, and same-day delivery is available. If anything needs adjusting, we revise it.
Certified vs. standard translation
A certified translation is a word-for-word translation accompanied by a signed statement attesting to its accuracy and completeness. It is what official bodies require: USCIS, courts, universities and government agencies. Certified translations are $24.95 per page, where one sheet of your document is one page, with no word cap.
A standard translation is the same professional human translation without the certificate, for when you only need to understand the content or for internal or informal use. It is billed at the same $24.95 per page with no word cap.
Frequently asked questions
What does grade E on my Bac II mean?
On the Grade 12 exam, A is the highest grade and E the lowest pass. We translate the letter as printed; what it is equivalent to is for an evaluator to say.
I only have the provisional certificate.
We translate it and keep its title, so the receiving office sees it is provisional.
The date of birth differs from my birth certificate.
That happens when a birth was registered late. We translate each document as written; the receiving office decides how to weigh the difference.
