Derechos Reales, and the matrícula computarizada
Bolivian title is inscribed at Derechos Reales, and the modernised record is a matrícula computarizada with a long numeric code encoding the department, and asientos A, B and C for the property, the ownership and the charges.
Older records are in books by partida and have to be traced into the matrícula. We name which system the document belongs to.
Rural land, and INRA saneamiento
Rural land runs through INRA, and the saneamiento process reviewed and reissued rural titles, requiring that land serve an economic and social function or be reverted.
So a rural title carries a condition that has no US equivalent, and an INRA title is a different instrument from a Derechos Reales inscription. We name the issuing body.
TCO and indigenous territory
Bolivia titles Tierras Comunitarias de Origen to indigenous peoples as collective, inalienable and indivisible holdings.
A document from a TCO is not an individual deed and cannot be sold. We name the tenure rather than rendering it as ownership.
The cédula, and the languages
Parties are identified by cédula de identidad with the issuing department's abbreviation, which is part of the reference.
