The cédula suffix is part of the number
A Bolivian cédula de identidad number is frequently followed by a departmental suffix — LP for La Paz, CB for Cochabamba, SC for Santa Cruz — and the suffix is part of the identifier rather than an abbreviation to be dropped.
A number transcribed without it does not identify the document. We reproduce the suffix, and the passport carries the cédula number on its biodata page.
SEGIP, SERECÍ and the two records
Identity documents come from SEGIP; civil registration comes from SERECÍ, which sits under the electoral authority. Two bodies, and the passport derives from both.
The passport shows no parents. The birth certificate from SERECÍ does, and a modern certificate frequently restates an entry originally handwritten in a parish or municipal book.
The Plurinational State on the cover
Bolivia became the Plurinational State of Bolivia in 2009, and documents issued before and after name the country differently. Passports and certificates from either period are valid.

Indigenous names, and the languages
Bolivia recognises Quechua, Aymara, Guaraní and dozens of other languages officially, and indigenous names on registry documents have historically been hispanicised by clerks.
So a passport and an older family document may spell a surname differently with nothing behind it but a clerk's ear. We reproduce each spelling and note the variation. See our Spanish page.
