Provincial registries, one national framework
Argentine marriages are registered by the Registro Civil of the province or of the City of Buenos Aires, so the acta comes from a provincial office and the paper, the layout and the wording differ between provinces and decades. Two genuine Argentine certificates can look nothing alike.

The divorce is written on the marriage record
A divorce is recorded as a marginal annotation against the marriage entry rather than as a separate certificate, so a copy of the acta de matrimonio issued before the divorce shows a marriage still in force — with nothing on it to suggest anything is missing. Order a current copy from the provincial Registro Civil before paying anyone to translate the one in your drawer.
Where annotations exist, all of them are translated: divorce, annulment, death of a spouse, a change of name, a correction. They are the part an office is usually reading, and a translation that carries the body of the certificate but not the margin is incomplete.
What USCIS requires
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document must be accompanied by a complete English translation and the translator's certification that it is accurate. Every seal, stamp and marginal note is part of the document, so every one is translated.

Frequently asked questions
Since 2015 Argentine divorce has no grounds. Does that matter?
Only in what the annotation says. Argentina requires no ground, no waiting period and only one spouse, so the record shows a dissolution with no fault attributed. The absence of a reason is not an omission and we translate it as it stands.
Is the libreta de familia enough?
Usually not. An office asking for a marriage certificate wants the acta from the Registro Civil. We will translate either, but check before ordering.
Are both surnames translated?
Both surnames are reproduced in the order the document gives them. Dropping the second is how a person stops matching their own file.
