The Institute of Foreign Credential Services requires English translations of documents not in English, completed by an ATA-certified translator or by a certified, sworn or legally authorized translator recognized by the appropriate authority in the country where the translation is made.

IFCS accepts a translator individually certified by ATA, and eVerbary assigns one on request.

IFCS also translates documents itself by quote, with fees separate from the evaluation; eVerbary translates your records and does not order the evaluation.

IFCS at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

IFCS says translations must be completed by an ATA-certified translator or by a certified, sworn or legally authorized translator recognized where the translation is made (IFCS FAQ), so a translation by an ATA-certified translator, which eVerbary assigns on request, meets it. Worth knowing about IFCS

ATA or sworn

ATA-certified in the US; certified or sworn where recognized abroad.

Upload with the application

Official documents and English translations go in together.

Report needs official records

Released only after records or verification arrive.

IFCS requirements in detail

Translation

English translations are part of the document checklist uploaded with the application (IFCS: required documents).

Who may translate

An ATA-certified translator, or a certified, sworn or legally authorized translator recognized by the appropriate authority in the country where the translation is completed (IFCS: frequently asked questions).

Self-translation

Not accepted unless you hold one of those certifications; the rule names certified translators only.

How to submit

Upload official documents and English translations with the application (IFCS: required documents).

Release of the report

Only after IFCS receives official documents directly from the issuing institution, or confirmation of studies if you chose its verification service (IFCS: terms and conditions).

IFCS's own option

Translations from any language into English by quote; fees are separate from the evaluation (IFCS: translations, FAQ).

Which translators IFCS recognizes

IFCS names two kinds of translator (IFCS: frequently asked questions). In the United States, the translator should be certified by the American Translators Association.

Abroad, a certified, sworn or legally authorized translator recognized by the authority of that country qualifies, such as a sworn translator registered with a court or ministry.

A translation made in the US by someone without ATA certification fits neither category, which is why we assign a translator individually certified by ATA for IFCS files.

ATA certifies translators into English only for certain languages; for others, ask IFCS which translator it will accept before you order.

Uploading now, official records later

IFCS starts from uploads: the document checklist asks for official documents and English translations with the application (IFCS: required documents).

The evaluation report, however, is released only once official documents arrive directly from the issuing institution or IFCS confirms your studies through its verification service (IFCS: terms and conditions).

Translate the same version of each document your school will send, so the uploaded translation matches the official record IFCS receives.

Need a certified translation for IFCS?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Diplomas, degrees and certificates
  • Transcripts and mark sheets
  • Secondary school records
  • Graduation certificates and national exam results

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades, hours and credits exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA or equivalency.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload or print.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
  • Notarization added at checkout ($34.90 per order) when the office asks for a notarized translation.

Submitting the translation to IFCS

  • Upload the ATA-certified translation with your official documents in the IFCS application (IFCS: required documents).

  • eVerbary delivers the translation as a signed PDF, ready to upload.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for IFCS, what it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, we do not order the evaluation for you, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For IFCS that means we translate your records with an ATA-certified translator; the evaluation, the verification of your studies and the official records from your school are between you, your school and IFCS.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and submit it with the copy of the original wherever the office asks for it.
