How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Whitworth University asks international undergraduate applicants for secondary school transcripts in both the original language and English, self-reported or sent by the school, and does not say who must translate.
Whitworth accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Students transferring from a university outside the US also need a credential evaluation from The Evaluation Company or WES, which we do not provide.
Whitworth at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Whitworth's international admissions page asks for transcripts in the original language and in English and does not restrict who makes the translation (admissions process); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Whitworth requirements in detail
Translation
Secondary school transcripts in both the original language and in English (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Who may translate
Not stated.
Copies
If you have only one original, a photocopy certified by the issuing school; copies certified by any other agency are not accepted (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Evaluation
Required, at your expense, if transferring from a university outside the US, through The Evaluation Company or WES; Whitworth may also ask for one to authenticate a transcript (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Exam results
Verified by the examining authority: CDGDC for Chinese credentials, the Indian School Certificate Examinations for GCE in India, WAEC for Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Gambia (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Deadlines
Early Action I November 15, Early Action II January 15; a copy of the diploma and final transcript if you enroll (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Original and English, and who certifies what
Whitworth reads secondary transcripts in both the original language and English, either self-reported or sent directly by the school (admissions process). Two kinds of certification are easy to confuse here.
The translation's certificate of accuracy comes from the translator.
A certified photocopy of the transcript itself, accepted only if you cannot get a second original, must be certified by the school that issued it; Whitworth refuses photocopies certified by anyone else.
External exams that end your secondary program, such as the Abitur, Cambridge exams, the Gaokao, IB, WAEC or ATAR results, are submitted as well and verified by the exam authority itself, for example CDGDC for China.
Transfers from abroad: TEC or WES
University students transferring from outside the US pay for a credential evaluation through The Evaluation Company's Whitworth site or WES (Whitworth: international admissions process).
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service and not the applicant.
The Evaluation Company asks for an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association; for TEC, eVerbary can assign one through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.
Where Whitworth's page differs
The checklist on the same page says only official transcripts will be accepted, while its Transcripts section says secondary transcripts may be self-reported (Whitworth: international admissions process). Ask the admissions office which applies to you before you submit.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Whitworth
Apply through the Common Application, with no fee, and add the transcript with its English translation; schools may also send transcripts directly (Whitworth: international admissions process). For a transfer evaluation, the translation goes to TEC or WES with your records.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Whitworth that means the TEC or WES evaluation for transfer students is ordered from the agency; we translate the records.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Whitworth need my transcripts translated?
Yes. Secondary transcripts in both the original language and English (Whitworth: international admissions process). It does not say who must translate.
Can I send a photocopy of my transcript?
Only if you cannot get another original, and only certified by the school that issued it (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Which evaluation service does Whitworth use?
The Evaluation Company or WES, required for transfers from outside the US (Whitworth: international admissions process).
How are my Chinese or West African exam results checked?
Through the exam authority: CDGDC for Chinese credentials, WAEC for Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Gambia (Whitworth: international admissions process).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
