How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Wayne County Community College District requires that foreign secondary school and college credentials not in English be evaluated by ECE, WES or SpanTran, with a named report for each: an ECE general or WES document-by-document evaluation for secondary school, an ECE course-by-course or WES comprehensive course-by-course for college.
WCCCD's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; the translation goes to the agency first, and the agency mails its report to WCCCD. The evaluation itself is something we do not provide.

WCCCD requirements in detail
Translation
WCCCD states no translation rule; foreign secondary and college credentials not in English must be evaluated by ECE, WES or SpanTran (International students: admission requirements).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency. WES and ECE accept a translation from a professional service; SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Secondary school report
ECE: General Evaluation. WES: Document-by-Document Evaluation (International students: admission requirements).
College report
ECE: Course-by-Course. WES: Comprehensive Course-by-Course; the college evaluation is mailed by the agency directly to WCCCD (International students: admission requirements).
Financial documents
Statement of Financial Support with original signatures and an original bank letter on letterhead signed by a bank official showing $15,284, plus $4,350 per dependent; all verified with the issuing banks (International students: admission requirements).
Where it goes
Complete applications are hand-delivered or mailed to the International Programs Office, 801 W. Fort Street, Detroit, MI 48226; scans and faxes are not accepted (International students: admission requirements).
Deadlines
Fall July 1, Spring November 15, Summer April 1 (International students: admission requirements).
A set report for each level
WCCCD does not leave the choice of report to you.
For secondary school credentials not in English, it wants an ECE General Evaluation or a WES Document-by-Document Evaluation; for college transcripts, an ECE Course-by-Course or a WES Comprehensive Course-by-Course Evaluation, and the agency must mail the college evaluation directly to the address on the admission application (admission requirements).
SpanTran is the third accepted agency; the page links to its WCCCD application.
The application itself is paper: original signatures on the International Student Application and the Statement of Financial Support, an original bank letter on letterhead, everything hand-delivered or mailed to the International Programs Office on Fort Street.
WCCCD verifies financial documents with the issuing banks before deciding, and it does not accept scanned or faxed copies (International students: admission requirements).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency; it does not accept translations by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
ECE asks for complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, lets applicants prepare them, and sells a Translation Waiver under which it translates internally for the report without delivering a translation to you.
The Evaluation Company, which now runs SpanTran, accepts an outside translator only if certified by the American Translators Association, or translates with its own team.
If you choose SpanTran, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA on request: ask for a free quote and say it is for a SpanTran evaluation for WCCCD. See also translation for WES.
Need a certified translation for WCCCD?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcript and leaving certificate, for the general or document-by-document report
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for the course-by-course report
- Mark sheets and grading scales that come with the transcripts
- National examination certificates, where an exam completes secondary school
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to WCCCD
For WCCCD, the translation is not handed in with the application: it goes to ECE, WES or SpanTran with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account), and the agency mails the evaluation to WCCCD (International students: admission requirements, WES).
The application, English test scores and financial documents go on paper to the International Programs Office, 801 W. Fort Street, Detroit (International students: admission requirements).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For WCCCD that means we translate your records for ECE, WES or SpanTran; the evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation, and the agency sends it to WCCCD.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does WCCCD accept my certified translation without an evaluation?
No. Credentials not in English must be evaluated by ECE, WES or SpanTran (International students: admission requirements). The agency asks for the translation: WES, for example, wants one from a professional translator (WES).
Which WES report does WCCCD want for my high school record?
The Document-by-Document Evaluation; with ECE, the General Evaluation (International students: admission requirements).
Can I email or fax my application?
No. WCCCD does not accept scanned or faxed copies; the application is hand-delivered or mailed (International students: admission requirements).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote; write that the translation is for a SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) evaluation for WCCCD. ATA certifies translators into English only for some languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese and Arabic.
What are the deadlines?
July 1 for fall, November 15 for spring and April 1 for summer (International students: admission requirements).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
