How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Valparaiso University asks international undergraduates for three years of high school transcripts with an English translation if they are in another language, and graduate applicants for a certified English translation when the institution does not issue transcripts in English; neither page says who must translate.
Valparaiso University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
A course-by-course evaluation of non-US courses is optional for undergraduates, with WES or IEE recommended, and is something we do not produce.
Valpo at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Valpo asks for transcripts "with an English translation" (international undergraduate) and graduate applicants for "a certified English translation" (international graduate), without restricting who translates; a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Valpo requirements in detail
Translation (undergraduate)
Three years of high school transcripts, with an English translation if in another language (International undergraduate admission).
Translation (graduate)
All documents in English; a certified English translation if your institution does not issue transcripts in English (International graduate admission).
Who may translate
Not stated on either page (International undergraduate admission; International graduate admission).
Official transcripts
Sent by a school official, brought in a sealed school envelope, sent by WES or another NACES member, or provided by a sponsor or EducationUSA (International undergraduate admission).
Evaluation
Optional course-by-course for non-US courses, at your expense, one per school; WES or IEE recommended, any NACES member accepted (International undergraduate admission).
Graduate timing
Upload records for review; official records from the institution within 30 days of the first day of classes (International graduate admission).
Review on unofficial copies, then the official record
Valpo reviews undergraduate applications on unofficial transcripts with their English translation, and requires the official record upon enrollment if it was not sent at the time of application (International undergraduate admission).
A transcript counts as official when a guidance counselor or school official sends it, when you bring it in a sealed, stamped school envelope, when WES or another NACES member sends it, or when a sponsor or EducationUSA provides it.
If you use an evaluator, you do not need to send extra copies of the transcript: they travel inside the evaluation. Translate the high school record for all three years.
Graduate applicants: certified translation and a 30-day clock
Graduate applicants upload transcripts or mark sheets and the degree certificate, with a certified English translation where needed, and the Graduate Admission Office evaluates from those uploads (International graduate admission).
After arriving, the official records must come directly from the institution, electronically or in a sealed envelope, within 30 days of the first day of classes.
If you choose an evaluator for undergraduate courses, WES wants a professional word-for-word translation and IEE a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Valpo
Undergraduates upload transcripts and translations with the application (International undergraduate admission); graduate applicants upload them for admission review and send official records after arrival (International graduate admission).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Valpo that means we translate your transcripts and certificates; an optional course-by-course evaluation comes from WES, IEE or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Who can translate my transcripts for Valpo?
Valpo asks for an English translation (undergraduate) or a certified English translation (graduate) and does not say who must make it (International undergraduate admission; International graduate admission). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.
Do I need a credential evaluation for Valpo?
It is optional, for non-US courses, at your expense; WES or IEE are recommended (International undergraduate admission).
Can I apply with unofficial transcripts?
Yes, for review; official transcripts are required upon enrollment (International undergraduate admission).
When must graduate students send official records?
Within 30 days of the first day of classes (International graduate admission).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
