How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater reads foreign records through an evaluation: undergraduate applicants, first-year, transfer and Rock County, submit an official evaluation with a grade point average from ECE, WES or One Earth, and no other company is accepted; graduate applicants submit a course-by-course evaluation from ECE, WES, SpanTran or any NACES member.
UW-Whitewater's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and One Earth, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and for transfer credit UW-Whitewater itself asks for an official English translation of syllabi not in English.
The evaluation is something we do not provide: you translate first and send the translation to the agency.

Worth knowing about UW-Whitewater
Three agencies only
ECE, WES or One Earth for undergraduates.
GPA included
Ask the agency for an evaluation with a grade point average.
Syllabi
Official English translation for transfer credit.
UW-Whitewater requirements in detail
Translation
For transcripts, set by the evaluation agency; UW-Whitewater states no rule of its own. For transfer credit, syllabi not in English need an official English translation (International admissions).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE and One Earth also accept your own word-for-word translation.
Evaluation (undergraduate)
Official evaluation of secondary credentials, with GPA, from ECE, WES or One Earth; evaluations by other companies are not accepted. Transfers also have post-secondary study abroad evaluated by the same three (International admissions).
Evaluation (graduate)
Course-by-course evaluation of all foreign credentials from ECE, WES, SpanTran (custom UW-Whitewater application) or any NACES member (graduate admissions).
Where to send
Documents by email to intladmission@uww.edu; US college transcripts only from the college itself (International admissions).
In-progress records
Admission can be based on in-progress coursework; the final official transcript is due before your second semester, or registration is blocked (International admissions).
Deadlines (recommended)
July 1 for fall, December 1 for spring (International admissions).
Undergraduates: one of three agencies, with a GPA
UW-Whitewater's international admissions page gives the same instruction to first-year, transfer and Rock County associate degree applicants: submit an official evaluation of your secondary credentials by Educational Credential Evaluators, World Education Services or One Earth, ask for an evaluation that includes a grade point average, and know that evaluations by other companies are not accepted (international admissions).
Transfer applicants who studied at a college outside the US have that study evaluated by the same three agencies.
Once your application is complete, UW-Whitewater prepares its own transfer credit evaluation from clear scans of the syllabus for each course taken abroad, and if the syllabi are not in English it needs the official English translation (International admissions).
Syllabi are long; order their translation together with the transcripts.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations made by applicants.
ECE accepts complete word-for-word translations in the same format, including your own, or for $85 translates internally for the report under its Translation Waiver.
One Earth asks for word-for-word translations with the originals and, in most cases, lets you prepare them yourself.
Graduate applicants may also use SpanTran through a custom UW-Whitewater application (graduate admissions); SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company, accepts outside translations only from a translator certified by the American Translators Association (TEC). eVerbary can assign one on request through a free quote.

Uploading the translation to UW-Whitewater
The translated transcripts go to ECE, WES or One Earth with your records, and the agency sends the official evaluation to UW-Whitewater. Other documents, including the syllabi with their translations, go by email to intladmission@uww.edu (International admissions).
Graduate applicants have the course-by-course evaluation sent from the agency, applying through SpanTran's custom UW-Whitewater application if they use SpanTran (Graduate admissions).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UW-Whitewater that means we translate your records and syllabi; the evaluation with GPA, or the graduate course-by-course evaluation, is ordered by you from ECE, WES, One Earth or another accepted agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does UW-Whitewater accept a certified translation instead of an evaluation?
No. Undergraduate applicants need an official evaluation from ECE, WES or One Earth (International admissions); the translation is what the agency needs to write it.
Can I use another NACES agency for undergraduate admission?
No. UW-Whitewater says it does not accept evaluations by other companies than ECE, WES and One Earth (International admissions). Graduate applicants may use any NACES member (Graduate admissions).
Do my syllabi need a translation for transfer credit?
Yes. If they are not in English, UW-Whitewater needs the official English translation (International admissions).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SpanTran?
Yes, on request through a free quote; say in the notes that the translation is for a SpanTran (The Evaluation Company) evaluation for UW-Whitewater. ATA certifies translators into English only for certain languages, such as Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese and Arabic.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
