How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

UT Tyler says transcripts from institutions outside the US must be translated, if not in English, and must have a course-by-course evaluation with a GPA from one of its listed agencies (undergraduate) or any NACES member (graduate); it does not say who must translate.

The University of Texas at Tyler accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

The evaluation itself comes from the agency, and five engineering and computer science master's programs do not require one unless they ask.

UT Tyler at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

UT Tyler says transcripts from outside the US "must be translated (if applicable)" and does not restrict who translates (international admissions); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

WES, The Evaluation Company (discount portal), SDR, GCE, IERF, IACEI, Josef Silny & Associates and IEE (International admissions).

Graduate agencies

Any current NACES member; commonly WES, TEC, ECE, GCE, IERF and IACEI (International admissions).

MS Computer Science, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Leadership, unless the program requests one (International admissions).

Application

ApplyTexas for undergraduates (opens August 1), uttyler.edu/apply for graduate; $75 fee (International admissions).

Translation first, then an agency from the list

UT Tyler asks for both a translation and a course-by-course evaluation with GPA (International admissions). The agencies set their own translation rules, and several on UT Tyler's lists are strict.

WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator; IEE wants a certified translator and refuses translations by the client or a notary.

The Evaluation Company asks for an outside translator certified by ATA, and GCE accepts only the issuing university, the ministry or an ATA-certified translator; IACEI also accepts only ATA-certified translators.

If you choose TEC, GCE or IACEI, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say which agency it is for: we can assign a translator individually certified by ATA for the languages ATA certifies.

Graduate study: NACES, and five programs without an evaluation

Graduate applicants with foreign transcripts submit a detailed course-by-course evaluation with GPA from any NACES member (International admissions).

The MS programs in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Leadership and Mechanical Engineering do not require an evaluation unless the program asks, so for those the translated transcript may be enough at first.

Questions about evaluations go to GradAdmissions@uttyler.edu; for undergraduates, internationaladmissions@uttyler.edu.

Need a certified translation for UT Tyler?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts and diploma (freshmen)
  • College or university transcripts (transfers and graduate)
  • Degree certificates
  • Mark sheets for every year or semester

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to UT Tyler

  • The translation goes to the evaluation agency with your records; UT Tyler accepts original evaluations sent by the agency (International admissions). For a graduate program that waives the evaluation, send the transcript with its translation as the program instructs.

  • We can send the certified translation directly to the admissions office by email on request.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For UT Tyler that means we translate your transcripts; the course-by-course evaluation with GPA is ordered by you from a listed agency or NACES member.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does UT Tyler accept an eVerbary translation?

UT Tyler asks for translated transcripts and does not say who must translate (International admissions); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies. Check your agency's own rule too.

Which evaluation agencies does UT Tyler accept for undergraduates?

WES, TEC, SDR, GCE, IERF, IACEI, JS&A and IEE (International admissions).

Do all graduate programs need an evaluation?

No. Five MS programs in engineering and computer science do not unless they ask (International admissions).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC, GCE or IACEI?

Yes, on request through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95. ATA certifies no other languages into English.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
