How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

Tyler Junior College asks international applicants for proof that their transcripts were translated and evaluated: a final high school transcript with a certified English translation and evaluation, and a course-by-course evaluation that includes a general evaluation.

It does not say who must make the certified translation, and its agency list marks which evaluators need you to supply an English translation.

Tyler Junior College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; the evaluation comes from the agency.

TJC at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

TJC asks for a high school transcript with a "Certified English translation/evaluation if it applies" and does not restrict who translates (initial enrollment); its own list groups agencies that evaluate only and need an English translation (agency list). Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

Worth knowing about TJC

Two lists of agencies

Some translate and evaluate; others need your translation.

Course-by-course

It must include a general evaluation.

Sent by the service

Only the school or agency can send it officially.

TJC requirements in detail

Translation

High school: final transcript with graduation date and a certified English translation/evaluation if it applies. College abroad: official transcripts evaluated and translated (as needed) by an approved vendor (International initial enrollment).

Who may translate

Not stated for the certified translation. Agencies under "Evaluation Only (English Translation Needed)" expect you to bring one (International transcript evaluation).

Evaluation

A course-by-course evaluation that includes a general evaluation is required to be considered for admission (International transcript evaluation).

Agencies that need a translation

ECE, International Consultants of Delaware, FCSA, IERF, Global Credentials Evaluators, WES and IACEI (International transcript evaluation).

Agencies that also translate

ERES, Josef Silny & Associates and The Evaluation Company (International transcript evaluation).

Official copies

An official original or a notarized/certified copy; official only when sent by the school or the translation or evaluation service, for example to international@tjc.edu (International initial enrollment).

F-1 transfers

Same rule for students transferring their F-1 to TJC (transfer enrollment).

Two kinds of agencies on TJC's list

TJC's international transcript evaluation page separates agencies that both translate and evaluate from those that evaluate only and need an English translation (International transcript evaluation).

If you choose an evaluation-only agency, you order the translation yourself and send it with your records.

Their own rules differ: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator; ECE lets applicants translate themselves and sells an $85 waiver; FCSA, in Austin, accepts certified translations from most professional agencies.

Global Credentials Evaluators and IACEI, both in Texas, accept only translators certified by ATA; for those, ask eVerbary for a free quote and say which agency it is for.

High school records and the general evaluation

For F-1 applicants TJC needs official high school transcripts or notarized copies, showing a graduation or leaving date, plus transcripts from every college attended (International initial enrollment).

If you finished high school abroad, the certified translation covers the high school diploma and transcript with every grade and stamp.

The course-by-course report must include a general evaluation, and most do; TJC asks you to confirm it with your agency (International transcript evaluation).

Unofficial copies can be used to start admission, but an official transcript is still required, and it counts as official only if it comes from the school or the translation or evaluation service; anything you send yourself is unofficial (International initial enrollment).

For other students, the Registrar also requires an international transcript evaluation for transcripts from schools abroad (transcripts page).

Need a certified translation for TJC?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Final high school transcript with graduation date, and the diploma
  • College or university transcripts from every school attended
  • Degree certificates
  • National exam or leaving certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to TJC

  • With an evaluation-only agency, send the certified translation to the agency with your records; the agency emails or mails its report to TJC, and the school or service can email transcripts to international@tjc.edu (International initial enrollment).

  • We can send the translation directly to the admissions office by email on request; because TJC treats copies from the student as unofficial, ask International Admissions whether it wants it from us or through the agency.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For TJC that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation with a general evaluation is ordered by you from one of the listed agencies.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does TJC accept an eVerbary translation?

TJC asks for a certified English translation without saying who makes it (International initial enrollment); a certified translation from a professional service is that kind of translation.

Which agencies need me to supply the translation?

Those listed under "Evaluation Only (English Translation Needed)": ECE, ICD, FCSA, IERF, GCE, WES and IACEI (International transcript evaluation).

What evaluation does TJC want?

A course-by-course evaluation that includes a general evaluation (International transcript evaluation).

Can I send my transcripts myself?

They count as unofficial; you can use them to start admission, but the school or service must send the official copy (International initial enrollment).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for GCE or IACEI?

Yes, on request through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95. ATA certifies no other languages into English.

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
