How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026

UTPB requirements in detail
Translation (graduate)
Transcripts translated into English by an official translation service; official copies of transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates (International graduate admissions).
Translation (undergraduate)
A complete and official English translation for documents in another language; each mark sheet must show the complete record of subjects and marks (International student admission).
Who may translate
Graduate: an official translation service. Undergraduate: the page names the evaluation service in one sentence and no translator in the next (International student admission).
Evaluation (graduate)
Graduate Studies sends transcripts to its evaluators to convert grades to a 4.0 scale at no cost; earlier evaluations are accepted only from NACES members (International graduate admissions).
Evaluation (undergraduate)
By a credential evaluation service such as WES, The Evaluation Company, FCSA, ECE, GCE or GEO Credential Services, sent directly to Admissions (International student admission).
Timing
Undergraduate paperwork at least 120 days before the semester, by email to admissions@utpb.edu or mail (International student admission).
Graduate applicants: translation service in, free evaluation out
UTPB's Graduate Studies office does the evaluation work itself: it sends your transcripts to its evaluators to convert your grades to the 4.0 scale, at no cost to you (International graduate admissions).
What it asks of you is official copies of transcripts, mark sheets and degree certificates, translated into English by an official translation service. If you already have an evaluation, UTPB accepts it only from a NACES member.
Send the documents and translations to gs@utpb.edu or by mail to Graduate Studies.
Where UTPB's undergraduate page differs
The undergraduate international page says all transcripts, certificates, diplomas and degrees must be "translated and evaluated" by a credential evaluation service and sent directly to Admissions, and in the next paragraph that documents in another language need a complete and official English translation, without saying who makes it.
We have not resolved this.
The listed services set their own rules: WES and FCSA accept translations from professional services, ECE accepts any complete literal translation or translates for an $85 waiver, and TEC and GCE want an ATA-certified translator or translate in-house. Ask Admissions which it prefers before ordering.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UTPB
Graduate applicants email gs@utpb.edu or mail Graduate Studies, 4901 East University, Odessa, TX 79762, with the official copies and translations (International graduate admissions).
Undergraduates send the translation to the evaluation service with their records; the service sends its report directly to admissions@utpb.edu or the Admissions Office (International student admission).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UTPB undergraduates that means we translate your records; the evaluation is ordered by you from a listed service. Graduate applicants are evaluated by UTPB itself.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
