How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
The University of the District of Columbia asks international applicants for official, sealed and translated academic transcripts, and for an evaluation by a NACES member of any secondary or university work completed outside the US; it does not say who must translate.

The NACES evaluation, for which UDC has a discounted application with The Evaluation Company, is something we do not provide.
UDC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
UDC's step-by-step guide asks for translated academic transcripts and does not restrict who translates (step-by-step guide); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 26, 2026.

Evaluation
Secondary or university work completed outside the US must be evaluated by a NACES member; The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran) has a custom UDC application at a discounted rate (Step-by-step guide for international students).
Other documents
English proficiency, financial verification for F-1 holders, passport page, I-94 and the I-20 eligibility form; F-1 transfers add the latest I-20 and transfer forms (Step-by-step guide for international students).
Decision
No admission decision until every required document is received (Step-by-step guide for international students).
Application fee

Translated transcripts and a NACES evaluation
UDC asks for both: official, sealed transcripts that are translated, and an evaluation by a NACES member of all secondary and university work completed outside the US (step-by-step guide).
Order the translation first; the same certified translation goes with your transcripts to UDC and to the evaluation agency. For a secondary diploma, see high school diploma translation.
If you use UDC's TEC application
UDC links a custom application with The Evaluation Company, formerly SpanTran, to make sure you order the right evaluation at a discount (Step-by-step guide for international students).
TEC accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association, or translates in-house (TEC); eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request through a free quote, for the languages ATA certifies.
Other NACES members have their own rules: WES, for example, accepts a word-for-word translation from a professional translation service.
Need a certified translation for UDC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- University transcripts and degree certificates
- Grading scale printed on the transcript
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UDC
Submit the sealed transcripts and their translations with the international student online application; the NACES agency sends the evaluation (Step-by-step guide for international students).
We can email the translation directly to the admissions office on request.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UDC that means we translate your transcripts and diploma; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you, for example through UDC's TEC application.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does UDC accept a translation from a translation company?
UDC asks for translated transcripts and does not say who must translate (Step-by-step guide for international students). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary meets that wording.
Do I need a credential evaluation for UDC?
Yes, for secondary or university work completed outside the US, from a NACES member (Step-by-step guide for international students).
Will TEC accept an eVerbary translation?
TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator (TEC). eVerbary can provide one on request: $34.95 per page for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian, $44.95 for Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian.
When will UDC decide on my application?
Only after it has received all required documents, including transcripts (Step-by-step guide for international students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
