Puget Sound requirements in detail
Translation
All documents must be in English (Puget Sound: first-year international students); transcripts must be translated into English (Puget Sound: resources for international applicants).
Who may translate
The issuing institution or an official translating service, which sends the document directly (Puget Sound: first-year international students).
Delivery
Directly to Puget Sound by the issuer or translating service; transcripts or letters submitted by the applicant, or sent from a personal email, are not accepted (Puget Sound: first-year international students; resources).
Evaluation
Admitted international transfer students provide a NACES or AICE-approved evaluation of college credit earned outside the US (Puget Sound: international transfer students).
Graduate
The same English and direct-delivery rule applies to all graduate programs (Puget Sound: international graduate students).
Deadlines
First-year: November 1 early action and early decision, January 15 regular decision (Puget Sound: first-year international students). Transfer: preferably March 1 for fall, end of September for spring (Puget Sound: international transfer students).
The translation has to arrive from the translator
Puget Sound's rule is about who sends as much as who translates: every document must be in English and reach the university directly from the issuing institution or from an official translating service (first-year international).
The resources page adds that materials must come from an institution and not a personal email, that exam boards forward school certificate results themselves, and that the School Report must be completed in or translated into English (resources).
In practice: ask your school to send the official transcript to admission@pugetsound.edu or by mail, and ask eVerbary, in the order notes, to email the certified translation directly to the Office of Admission. Uploading the translation yourself would not meet the rule.
Transfer and graduate applicants
International transfer applicants send an official transcript from every college attended, plus the high school transcript if they have less than one year of college credit; all in English and sent directly (international transfer).
Once admitted, they need a NACES or AICE-approved evaluation for any credit earned outside the US before Puget Sound issues its own transfer credit evaluation, which is why it suggests applying by March 1 for fall.
Graduate applicants to the MPH, occupational therapy, physical therapy and education programs follow the same document rule (international graduate). Physical therapy asks every non-native English speaker for TOEFL or IELTS, with no Duolingo.

Uploading the translation to Puget Sound
Puget Sound does not take translations from applicants.
Ask us in the order notes to email the certified translation directly to the Office of Admission (admission@pugetsound.edu for first-year; transfer@pugetsound.edu handles transfer questions), and have your school send its transcript itself (Puget Sound: resources for international applicants).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Puget Sound that means the NACES or AICE evaluation that admitted transfer students need is ordered from the agency; we translate and, on request, send the translation to the university.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
