How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Tacoma Community College publishes no translation rule of its own: transcripts from schools outside the US need a course-by-course evaluation from a foreign credential evaluation service, which the agency forwards to credeval@tacomacc.edu.
Tacoma CC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, IERF and Scholaro, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Tacoma CC requirements in detail
Translation
Tacoma CC states no translation rule; non-US transcripts reach it only through an agency evaluation. The translation is what the agency needs before it can evaluate a document not in English.
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency: WES, IERF and Scholaro accept a professional service; TEC and ACEI ask for an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
A course-by-course evaluation from a foreign credential evaluation service, forwarded by the agency to credeval@tacomacc.edu (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Agencies listed
WES, The Evaluation Company, Foreign Consultants, FIS, ACEI, IERF, CGFNS (TruMerit) and Scholaro, among others (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
What counts as US
US territories, Palau, the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia count as US schools (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Excluded courses
English composition (ENGL& 101, ENGL& 102) is not accepted from foreign transcripts (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Timing
8 to 12 weeks from the first day of the term you are enrolled in; transcripts from students not enrolled do not enter the queue (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Tacoma CC lists many agencies, and each sets its own translation rule.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, does not accept translations made by applicants and does not translate documents itself.
IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations and may require a professional one.
Scholaro accepts translations by a professional translator, an ATA-certified translator or an agency it recognizes, and sells its own translation add-on.
The Evaluation Company and ACEI are stricter: in the US they want a translator certified by the American Translators Association. If you choose one of them, eVerbary can assign a translator individually certified by ATA for the languages ATA certifies; ask for a free quote and name the agency.
When Tacoma CC evaluates foreign credit
Enrollment Services evaluates only for enrolled students.
If you send official documents before registering, they wait; once you are enrolled, they enter the queue on the first day of the term, and you should expect 8 to 12 weeks from that date (transfer credits).
The agency forwards its report directly to credeval@tacomacc.edu; a report sent from your own email is not official.
New F-1 students get a shorter list on the newly admitted page, naming WES, FIS, ACEI and AACRAO International Education Services, and a 6 to 8 week estimate after registering for one quarter (newly admitted students).
Enrollment Services' longer list and 8 to 12 weeks are the more detailed figures; if you are unsure, ask credeval@tacomacc.edu before ordering.

Uploading the translation to Tacoma CC
The translation does not go to Tacoma CC: send it to the evaluation agency with your records (WES, for example, takes it in your WES account). The agency forwards its course-by-course report to credeval@tacomacc.edu (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Tacoma CC that means we translate your records for the agency; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from an agency on TCC's list, which sends it to credeval@tacomacc.edu.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Tacoma Community College require a certified translation?
TCC itself publishes no translation rule; it requires a course-by-course evaluation (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)), and the agency asks for the translation, for example WES from a professional translator (WES).
Which agencies does Tacoma CC accept?
Its Enrollment Services page lists WES, TEC, Foreign Consultants, FIS, ACEI, IERF, CGFNS (TruMerit) and Scholaro, among others (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Will my English classes from abroad count?
Not English composition: ENGL& 101 and 102 are not accepted from foreign transcripts (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Can I get my evaluation before I enroll?
No. Transcripts enter the evaluation queue only once you are enrolled, from the first day of the term (Transfer credits to TCC (Enrollment Services)).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
