How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

The University of New Hampshire requires international applicants to send secondary and university transcripts with English translations, and it does not say who must translate them.

University of New Hampshire accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Undergraduate admission needs no credential evaluation, but university coursework counts for transfer credit only after an evaluation from an agency such as WES or CED, which we do not provide.

UNH at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

UNH's international admissions page asks for transcripts "with English translations" and does not restrict who makes them (international applicants); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

UNH requirements in detail

Translation

Secondary and university transcripts of any coursework before UNH, with English translations (How to apply: international).

Who may translate

Evaluation (undergraduate)

Not needed for admission; academic credentials must be in English (international FAQ).

Transfer credit

University transcripts need an evaluation, for example from WES or the Center for Educational Documentation (How to apply: international).

How to apply

Common Application; deadlines Oct. 15 (spring), Nov. 15 (Early Action) and Feb. 1 (Regular Decision) (How to apply: international).

Graduate

Transcripts not in English need certificate translations; departments may also ask for translation and evaluation services (Graduate School).

Translation for admission, evaluation only for credit

For undergraduates UNH separates the two steps.

Admission works from your transcripts and their English translations; the international FAQ says plainly that no credential evaluation is needed to apply, only academic credentials in English (FAQ).

University coursework is different: to receive transfer credit, the transcript has to be evaluated, and UNH names World Education Services and the Center for Educational Documentation as options, without limiting the choice to them (How to apply: international).

UNH verifies and scans the international documents it receives and then destroys them; official documents are not returned (How to apply: international). Send copies you can spare, and keep the originals and your translation PDF.

Where UNH's pages differ for graduate applicants

The Graduate School says a third-party evaluation is not required when the transcript is in English, and that transcripts in another language need certificate translations, with translation and evaluation services at the department's discretion (Graduate School).

The general international FAQ says instead that credential evaluations are required for graduate transcripts not in English (FAQ). Ask your department which it expects before you order an evaluation.

At UNH Manchester the undergraduate rule is the same, and the campus lists WES and CED as translation options without limiting the choice to them (UNH Manchester).

Need a certified translation for UNH?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts or mark sheets
  • Leaving certificates and national exam results
  • University transcripts, for review and transfer credit
  • Degree certificates, for graduate applicants

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to UNH

  • Undergraduates apply through the Common Application, and transcripts and their translations reach UNH Admissions with it (How to apply: international). For transfer credit, the evaluation agency sends its report after you send it the translated transcript.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For UNH that means we translate your transcripts; the evaluation for transfer credit, or one a graduate department asks for, comes from an evaluation agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does UNH require a credential evaluation for undergraduate admission?

No. UNH wants your academic credentials in English, and an evaluation only for transfer credit (International students FAQ).

Who may translate my transcript for UNH?

UNH asks for English translations and does not say who must make them (How to apply: international); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies.

Will UNH return my original documents?

No. International documents are verified, scanned and destroyed (How to apply: international).

Which agency should evaluate my university courses?

UNH names WES and the Center for Educational Documentation, without limiting the choice to them (How to apply: international).

What do graduate applicants need?

Certificate translations for transcripts not in English; departments may ask for more (Graduate School: international applicants).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
