How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

The University of Dayton asks international first-year and transfer applicants for secondary transcripts in the language of original issue, accompanied by a certified English translation if they are not in English; it does not say who must translate.

The University of Dayton accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

Transfer applicants with coursework outside the US also need a divisional course analysis from TEC, which asks for a translator certified by ATA; eVerbary provides one on request, but the evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Dayton at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Dayton asks that transcripts not issued in English be "accompanied by a certified English translation" and does not restrict who translates (international undergraduate admission); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Dayton requirements in detail

Translation

Transcripts not issued in English accompanied by a certified English translation (International undergraduate admission).

Who may translate

What to send

Transcripts of all secondary schools, in the language of original issue, with dates, subjects, grades and exam marks; graduates add the final transcript, exam results, certificate of completion and diploma (International undergraduate admission).

Where

Uploaded to your Admission Account checklist; US high school transcripts are emailed by the counselor to goglobal@udayton.edu (International undergraduate admission).

Transfer evaluation

Coursework outside the US: an official divisional course analysis completed by TEC, through Dayton's discounted TEC application (International undergraduate admission).

Deadlines

May 1 for fall, November 1 for spring; $50 fee; review takes about four weeks (International undergraduate admission).

The full secondary record, translated

Dayton asks for the transcript of every secondary school you attended, with dates of attendance, all subjects, grades and examination marks, in the language of original issue, and a certified English translation alongside (International undergraduate admission).

If you have graduated, add every graduation document that applies: final transcript, exam results, certificate of completion and diploma; if not yet, they must arrive before you do.

Translate each one, including the diploma, so the Admission Account checklist clears.

Transfers: TEC and an ATA-certified translator

For undergraduate coursework from outside the US, Dayton accepts only a divisional course analysis from TEC, ordered through its discounted Dayton application; TEC sends the official report to Dayton at no extra charge (International undergraduate admission).

TEC requires outside translations to be made by a translator certified by the American Translators Association, or translates in-house after your application is complete. eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator through a free quote; say the translation is for TEC.

Need a certified translation for Dayton?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts, every school attended
  • Examination results and certificate of completion
  • Secondary school diploma
  • University transcripts, for the TEC course analysis (transfers)

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Dayton

  • Upload the transcripts and certified translations to your Admission Account checklist (International undergraduate admission). For transfer credit, the translation goes to TEC with your college records, and TEC sends the evaluation to Dayton.

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Dayton, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Dayton that means we translate your records; the TEC divisional course analysis for transfer applicants is ordered by you from TEC.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Who can translate my transcripts for the University of Dayton?

Dayton asks for a certified English translation and does not say who must make it (International undergraduate admission). A certified translation from a professional service qualifies.

Do first-year applicants need a credential evaluation?

The international page asks for one only from transfer applicants with coursework outside the US (International undergraduate admission).

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for TEC?

Yes, through a free quote, for Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page). ATA certifies no other languages into English.

When are the deadlines?

May 1 for fall and November 1 for spring (International undergraduate admission).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
