How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
The University of Baltimore does not evaluate non-US transcripts: first-year, transfer and graduate applicants need a course-by-course evaluation of all education outside the US from a US credential evaluation service, with a 4.0 GPA for transfer and graduate applicants.
UBalt's evaluation agencies, such as WES and IERF, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator, which eVerbary can assign on request.
You order the translation first; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

UBalt requirements in detail
Translation
UBalt states no translation rule; non-US records reach it through the evaluation (Non-US transcript evaluation).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluator: WES and IERF accept a professional service; TEC asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
Required for any high school, college or university attended outside the US, at your expense; transfer and graduate reports must be course-by-course with a GPA on a 4.0 scale (Non-US transcript evaluation).
Recommended
WES's International Credential Advantage Package, and The Evaluation Company (formerly SpanTran); both verify your records, so you need not send official records to UBalt (Non-US transcript evaluation).
Other agencies
Any NACES member; UBalt lists CAREE, International Consultants of Delaware and IERF (Non-US transcript evaluation).
First-year applicants
A course-by-course evaluation of all non-US education, plus SAT or ACT scores and English proficiency (International admission requirements).
Where to send
By email to documents@ubalt.edu or by mail to the Office of Admission, 101 W. Mt. Royal Ave. (International admission requirements).
ICAP and TEC: verification included
UBalt's first choice is WES's ICAP service: WES verifies your records with the issuing institution and includes verified copies in the report, so you do not send official records to UBalt separately.
The Evaluation Company works the same way and can help if you have trouble getting transcripts (non-US transcript evaluation). For both, the translation goes to the agency with your documents, not to UBalt.
UBalt asks for course-by-course reports for every level, including first-year applicants, so translate each year of the secondary record with its subjects and grades (requirements).
What each agency asks for the translation
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service and does not accept translations by applicants.
IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations and may require a professional one.
The Evaluation Company accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; if you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
Need a certified translation for UBalt?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts and diploma
- University transcripts and degree certificates
- National exam certificates, where they complete secondary school
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to UBalt
The translation goes to WES, TEC or the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends its report to UBalt (Non-US transcript evaluation). Your other documents go to documents@ubalt.edu or by mail to the Office of Admission (International admission requirements).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for UBalt, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For UBalt that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from WES, TEC or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does UBalt evaluate foreign transcripts?
No. You have your records evaluated by a US credential evaluation service at your expense (Non-US transcript evaluation).
Which evaluation does UBalt recommend?
WES's International Credential Advantage Package; The Evaluation Company is also recommended, and any NACES member is accepted (Non-US transcript evaluation).
Do first-year applicants need a course-by-course report?
Yes. UBalt lists a course-by-course evaluation of all non-US education for first-year, transfer and graduate applicants (International admission requirements).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for UBalt?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for the University of Baltimore and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
