Requirements checked on October 27, 2026 from Akron's public pages (sources).
The University of Akron asks undergraduate international applicants for transcripts officially translated into English if they are not in English, sent together with the originals, and for a credential evaluation from a NACES member such as TEC, WES, ECE or IEE, or an AICE member.
The University of Akron accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. The evaluation is ordered by you from the agency and sent electronically to Akron; it is something we do not produce.
Akron at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Akron says transcripts not in English "must be officially translated" and the originals provided with the translations (international admissions); it does not restrict who translates, and a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Sample translation: a Brazilian university transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with invented names, school and numbers. The original in Portuguese sits next to our English translation, and the PDF starts with the signed certification page. Bracketed text in the translation is a translator's note: each abbreviation is spelled out the first time it appears, and the layout follows the original line for line, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- CPF, RG, MEC, D.O.U., CH, CR and ENADE are spelled out in brackets the first time they appear, and only then.
- Status codes (AP, RM, RF, AE) are explained on first use, so a course failed and retaken the next term reads correctly.
- Grades, decimal commas and dates stay exactly as printed; the date format is noted once. Converting grades is the evaluator's job.
- Terms, rows and columns follow the original line for line, so each course can be matched at a glance.

Translation and evaluation, both required
Akron asks for two separate things for records from abroad. Transcripts not in English must be officially translated, and the original copies go together with the translated versions (international admissions).
Then a NACES evaluation must be submitted: Akron accepts evaluations from TEC, WES, ECE or IEE and other accredited members of NACES and AICE, and suggests course-by-course reports.
Official documents are needed for full admission, scholarships and the I-20.
The agencies also need the translation.
WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator; ECE accepts any complete, literal translation, and Akron asks you to review ECE's documentation requirements, which vary by country; IEE wants a certified translator, not the applicant or a notary; TEC, which has a discounted Akron application, wants an outside translator certified by ATA. For TEC, ask eVerbary for a translator individually certified by ATA.
Transfer credit from universities abroad
Akron's Transfer Equivalency Database lists pre-approved courses from universities and colleges around the world.
If your school or course is not there, Akron recommends sending syllabi, course descriptions or program outlines to intltransfer@uakron.edu or through your applicant portal (International admissions: undergraduate); if they are not in English, a translation helps the credit evaluation.
Admission is rolling, and the decision is posted in your applicant portal.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Akron
Send the originals with their certified translations as Akron asks, and give the agency the same translation with your records; the agency sends the electronic evaluation directly to Akron (International admissions: undergraduate).
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Akron, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Akron that means we translate your records; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from TEC, WES, ECE, IEE or another member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
