How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
St. Petersburg College asks degree-seeking students with schooling outside the US for an official evaluation by a NACES member instead of the foreign transcript: a document evaluation for high school, a course-by-course evaluation for college credit, sent by the agency itself.
SPC's evaluation agencies, such as WES, ECE and Educational Perspectives, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; for F-1 applicants, a bank statement not in English also needs a certified English translation.
SPC at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
SPC asks for an evaluation from a current NACES member and accepts electronic reports only from ECE, Educational Perspectives, The Evaluation Company and WES (F-1 admission steps), and WES accepts a certified translation from a professional translation service (WES translation rules); Educational Perspectives accepts one from a reputable agency (EP), while The Evaluation Company asks for a translator certified by ATA. Worth knowing about SPC
Four electronic agencies
ECE, Educational Perspectives, TEC and WES.
High school: evaluated
A NACES document evaluation, not the transcript.
College credit optional
Foreign college records only if you want credit.
SPC requirements in detail
Translation
SPC states no translation rule for transcripts; it reads foreign records through a NACES evaluation (International students: study in the US). The translation goes to the agency, which sets the rule.
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES, ECE and Educational Perspectives accept a professional service; The Evaluation Company asks for an ATA-certified translator.
Evaluation
Official, unopened, from a current NACES member, for educational purposes: general document evaluation for high school, comprehensive course-by-course for college (International students: study in the US).
Electronic delivery
Only from ECE, Educational Perspectives, TEC and WES; other NACES members mail or drop off the sealed report (International students: study in the US).
Residents with foreign high school
Degree-seeking applicants send a NACES document evaluation of the high school record, sent by the agency to SPC (transcripts).
Foreign college credit
Not required; to have it posted, a course-by-course evaluation plus SPC's request form (Admissions: transcripts).
Bank statement (F-1)
In English or with a certified English translation, dated within 6 months of the term (International students: study in the US).
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
WES asks for an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and does not accept translations made by applicants.
Educational Perspectives accepts translations by a reputable translation agency or a certified professional translator, and also sells its own.
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations in the same format as the original, including your own, and for $85 translates internally for its report without giving you a translation.
The Evaluation Company says an outside translator must be certified by the American Translators Association. If you choose TEC, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
Electronic or sealed: how the report reaches SPC
SPC accepts any current NACES member, but only four send electronically: ECE, Educational Perspectives, The Evaluation Company and WES.
With any other member, the official evaluation must arrive unopened, mailed or dropped off by the agency (International students: study in the US). The evaluation's purpose must say higher education or study in the US.
The same evaluation replaces the foreign transcript: SPC does not ask you to send it the original record from abroad. Translate every page, stamp and grade of your high school diploma and transcripts before you open the agency file.
Residents and transfer students with foreign records
The high school rule applies to everyone seeking a degree, not only F-1 students: a NACES document evaluation, completed for educational purposes and sent by the agency to SPC (transcripts).
Applicants who earned an associate or higher degree from a US college generally do not need high school transcripts.
College work from outside the US is optional. If you want it on your SPC record, order a course-by-course evaluation and fill out SPC's form to start the review; transfer credits are posted about 10 business days after your admissions checklist is complete (Admissions: transcripts).
Need a certified translation for SPC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- High school diploma or leaving certificate, for the document evaluation
- High school transcripts or mark sheets
- University transcripts and degree certificates, for a course-by-course evaluation
- Bank statement or bank letter, for F-1 applicants
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to SPC
For transcripts and diplomas, the translation goes to the NACES agency with your records, not to SPC; the agency sends the evaluation to SPC, electronically if it is ECE, EP, TEC or WES (International students: study in the US).
F-1 applicants send the Statement of Financial Ability and the bank statement with its certified English translation with their application documents (International students: study in the US). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for SPC, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For SPC that means we translate your records and bank statements; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency after the translation.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I send my foreign transcript to SPC?
No. SPC wants an official NACES evaluation in place of the international transcript (International students: study in the US).
Which evaluation agency should I use for SPC?
Any current NACES member, but only ECE, Educational Perspectives, TEC and WES send electronically; others must mail the sealed report (International students: study in the US).
Do I need my foreign college credits evaluated?
Only if you want them posted to your SPC record: a course-by-course evaluation plus SPC's form (Admissions: transcripts).
Does my bank statement need a translation?
Yes, if it is not in English: a certified English translation (International students: study in the US).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for SPC?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for St. Petersburg College and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
