How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

St. John Fisher University requires high school years completed outside the US, and all college transcripts from transfer and graduate applicants, to be submitted through a NACES-verified transcript evaluation vendor, with a course-by-course evaluation for college work.

St. John Fisher's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.

You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

St. John Fisher requirements in detail

Translation

No rule of its own for first-year applicants; records from abroad go through a NACES-verified evaluation vendor, which sets the translation rule (First-year admissions for international students).

Evaluation (first-year)

High school years completed outside the US must be submitted through a NACES-verified vendor; Fisher also asks for original or notarized copies of all secondary records (First-year admissions for international students).

Evaluation (transfer)

Course-by-course evaluation of college transcripts from a NACES-verified vendor; with fewer than 24 college credits, a high school transcript not in English must include a translation and a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-verified vendor (transfer).

Evaluation (graduate)

Course-by-course evaluation of college transcripts from a NACES-verified vendor (graduate).

Deadlines

Documents by June 1 for fall and October 1 for spring, unless you are already in the US in F-1 status (Transfer admissions for international students).

Graduate F-1 programs

Only Mental Health Counseling and on-ground Pharmacy; part-time, online and hybrid programs are not eligible (Graduate admissions for international students).

What each evaluation agency asks for the translation

Fisher accepts any NACES-verified vendor, and each sets its own translation rule.

WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, uploaded in your WES account, and does not accept translations made by applicants (WES).

ECE accepts a complete, literal translation in the same format as the original from anyone, including you, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally for the report (ECE).

IERF asks for typed, line-by-line, word-for-word translations and reserves the right to require a professional one (IERF).

Transfers with fewer than 24 credits

Transfer applicants with fewer than 24 college credits also send their high school transcript, and if it is not in English it must include a translation and a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-verified vendor (transfer admissions).

The sentence can be read as asking the vendor to supply both; if you are unsure whether your agency must make the translation itself, ask Fisher's international admissions office before ordering. With WES or IERF, which do not translate, you supply the translation.

For first-year applicants Fisher adds that secondary records must be originals or notarized copies (first-year admissions); that is about the copies of your records, not about the translation.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to St. John Fisher

  • For records from abroad, the translation goes to the NACES vendor with your documents, not to Fisher; the vendor sends its evaluation to the university.

First-year applicants apply through the Common Application; transfer and graduate applicants use Fisher's online application (first-year, transfer).

  • After acceptance you complete the I-20 Application and Statement of Financial Support covering at least one year of expenses (Graduate admissions for international students).

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For St. John Fisher that means we translate your records for the agency; the NACES evaluation is ordered and paid by you after the translation.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does St. John Fisher require a certified translation?

Fisher itself sends records from abroad to a NACES-verified vendor (First-year admissions for international students); the vendor asks for the translation. WES, for example, wants one from a professional translator (WES).

Which evaluation company can I use for Fisher?

Any vendor verified by NACES; Fisher links the NACES list (First-year admissions for international students). WES, ECE and IERF are NACES members.

Do I need a course-by-course evaluation?

Yes for college transcripts, for transfer and graduate applicants (transfer, graduate).

When are documents due?

June 1 for fall and October 1 for spring, unless you are already in the US in F-1 status (Transfer admissions for international students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
