Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

Spelman requirements in detail

Translation

An official translation of any document not in English (International students).

Who may translate

Evaluation

Not mentioned on the international admission page (International students).

Who counts as international

Anyone who is not a US citizen or permanent resident, and any student attending high school abroad regardless of citizenship (International students).

Complete application

Common Application, two teacher recommendations, official high school and/or college transcripts, English test for students from non-English-speaking countries, $50 fee; SAT or ACT optional (International students).

Financial aid

None for international students except a limited number of merit-based scholarships for first-year students (International students).

A US citizen schooled abroad is an international applicant

Spelman classifies as international not only women who are neither US citizens nor permanent residents, but also any student attending high school abroad, regardless of citizenship (international students).

That means a US citizen finishing a high school diploma in Mexico, Brazil or Korea follows the international checklist, including the official translation of transcripts that are not in English.

Spelman's page asks for no separate credential evaluation, so the admissions office reads your transcripts and their translation directly. Translate every year of the transcript, the grading scale and the diploma, so the readers can see your full record and grades as issued.

Money comes before the I-20

Students who need an F-1 visa must submit financial documentation before Spelman issues the I-20; the financial statement form comes from the international student services coordinator (International students).

Spelman offers no financial aid to international students other than merit-based scholarships, awarded to a limited number of incoming first-year students on GPA, test scores if submitted, community service and leadership.

Bank letters and sponsor documents that are not in English fall under the same official translation rule.

Uploading the translation to Spelman

  • Submit the transcripts and their official translations as part of your Common Application file; questions go to Spelman Admissions, 350 Spelman Lane, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30314, admiss@spelman.edu (International students).

  • eVerbary delivers a signed PDF; on request we can also email the translation directly to the admissions office.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
