How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Skidmore asks international applicants whose transcripts or recommendations are not in English to include certified English translations, and wants each transcript to carry the school's grading scale or an explanation of how students are evaluated; it does not say who must translate.
Skidmore College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Skidmore names no outside credential evaluation for admission, and it decides transfer credit itself after admission, so what we provide is the translation, not an evaluation or a grade conversion.
Skidmore at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Skidmore's international admissions page asks for certified English translations of transcripts and recommendations not in English and does not restrict who translates (international applicants); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Transcripts and the letters that come with them
Skidmore's rule is short but covers more than grades: if your transcripts or your recommendations are not in English, you include certified English translations, and transcripts should come with your school's grading scale or an explanation of how you are evaluated (international applicants).
A teacher or counselor who writes in Spanish, French or another language therefore needs a translated letter as well, and the legend that explains the marks is part of the record you translate.
Skidmore counts as international any applicant who is not a US citizen or permanent resident, and its international counselors also read applications from US citizens at schools outside the US (International applicants). The same documents apply to both groups.
Transfer applicants
Transfers send official transcripts from every college attended, the final high school transcript, two academic evaluations from college instructors and a College Official's Report confirming good standing (transfer applicants).
Skidmore evaluates credit itself: courses need a C or better, grades from other schools do not enter your Skidmore GPA, quarter credits are multiplied by two-thirds, other systems are read with the credit key on your transcript, and final decisions come after admission (Transfer applicants).
Translate the credit key along with the transcript, since Skidmore uses it to convert your credits.

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Skidmore
Apply through the Common Application or the Coalition Application; Skidmore then gives you access to its Applicant Portal, where you upload materials and see what is missing (International applicants).
Send the translation together with the original-language transcript, and ask your school to send official records as Skidmore requests.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Skidmore that means we translate your records and letters; we do not convert grades or decide transfer credit, which Skidmore does after admission.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Skidmore require a certified translation of my transcript?
Yes, if it is not in English, together with your school's grading scale (International applicants). Skidmore does not say who must translate.
Do my recommendation letters need to be translated?
Yes. Skidmore asks for certified English translations of recommendations that are not in English (International applicants).
Do I need a WES or ECE evaluation for Skidmore?
Skidmore's international page asks for official transcripts with translations and names no evaluation agency (International applicants).
How does Skidmore count my credits as a transfer?
Courses with a C or better can transfer; quarter credits are multiplied by two-thirds, other systems use your transcript's credit key, and final decisions come after admission (Transfer applicants).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
