How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Skagit Valley College asks international applicants to submit documents written in English or accompanied by an official English translation, and its High School Completion program asks for official transcripts or certified copies with certified English translations; neither page says who must translate.
Skagit Valley College accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary. Credit for study in a non-English-speaking country needs a NACES course-by-course evaluation, which we do not provide.
Skagit Valley at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Skagit's application page asks for "an official English translation" and its High School Completion page for "certified English translations", without restricting who translates (how to apply, High School Completion); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that translation. Skagit Valley requirements in detail
Translation
All application documents in English or accompanied by an official English translation (Skagit Valley College International Programs: how to apply).
High School Completion
Official original transcripts or certified copies with certified English translations, from junior high onward (Skagit Valley College: High School Completion program).
Who may translate
Not stated.
What transcripts must show
School name and address, dates, grade level, courses, grades with the grading scale, and credit hours as hours per week per subject (Skagit Valley College: High School Completion program).
College credit
A NACES course-by-course evaluation if you studied where English is not the first official language of government, sent to eval@skagit.edu or by mail (Skagit Valley College: transfer credit evaluation).
Timing
Credit evaluations take up to 8 weeks after the Evaluation Request Form arrives (Skagit Valley College: transfer credit evaluation).
High School Completion: what the translated transcript must show
Skagit's High School Completion program evaluates your high school transcripts to see which courses you have completed and how long the diploma will take (High School Completion).
You submit complete official transcripts for all coursework from junior high school onward, as originals or certified copies with certified English translations.
Skagit lists what they must include: the institution's name and address, the dates of attendance, the class or grade level, the courses, the grades with an explanation of the grading scale, and the credit hours, expressed as hours per week per subject.
If your school prints the weekly hours or the grading scale on the back or on a separate sheet, translate that page too; a translation that leaves it out leaves Skagit without the hours it counts. See high school diploma translation.
College credit from a non-English-speaking country
For credit, Skagit draws the line by language rather than by country: students who took classes where English is not the first official language of government need a course-by-course international transcript evaluation from a NACES member they choose and pay for (transfer credit evaluation).
The agency sends it electronically to eval@skagit.edu or on paper to Enrollment Services, and you file an Evaluation Request Form naming your degree plan.
Agencies set their own translation rules; see translation for credential evaluation.

What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to Skagit Valley
International applicants upload documents in Skagit's online international application; once submitted, materials are not returned or copied for you (Skagit Valley College International Programs: how to apply). eVerbary can also email the translation directly to the International Programs office on request.
High School Completion transcripts and translations go to the International Programs Office with the application (Skagit Valley College: High School Completion program).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
At Skagit Valley that means the NACES course-by-course evaluation for college credit comes from an agency; we translate the transcripts you send to it and to Skagit.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of translation does Skagit Valley College accept?
An official or certified English translation; Skagit does not say who must make it (Skagit Valley College International Programs: how to apply, Skagit Valley College: High School Completion program). A certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary qualifies.
Which grades do I translate for High School Completion?
All coursework from junior high school onward (Skagit Valley College: High School Completion program).
Do I need a credential evaluation?
Only for college credit from a country where English is not the first official language: a NACES course-by-course evaluation (Skagit Valley College: transfer credit evaluation).
Will Skagit return my documents?
No. Skagit does not return or copy submitted application materials (Skagit Valley College International Programs: how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
