How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Siena University asks international applicants to have transcripts that are not in English translated into English, and it does not say who must translate; the transcripts themselves must carry the school's seal and be sent by a school official.
Siena University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
Siena's pages differ on whether college coursework needs a NACES course-by-course evaluation, graduate applicants with a foreign degree need one (WES or ECE preferred), and that evaluation is something we do not provide.
Siena at a glance
Does it accept eVerbary? Yes
Siena's international admissions page asks that transcripts not in English be translated into English and does not restrict who translates (how to apply); a certified translation from a professional service such as eVerbary is that kind of translation. Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Where Siena's pages differ
The international how-to-apply page says any coursework completed at a post-secondary institution must be submitted to a NACES certified evaluation service for a course-by-course evaluation, and it links a discounted credit evaluation from The Evaluation Company (how to apply).
The international FAQ says it is not necessary to have your transcript evaluated by an outside service, because Siena does that in house, and that transfer students may be asked for an evaluation, suggesting WES or ECE, so they receive the credit they deserve (FAQ).
We have not resolved the difference; if you have college credits from abroad, ask international@siena.edu before you pay for an evaluation.
Graduate programs: a NACES evaluation of your degree
Graduate applicants send official transcripts from every post-secondary institution where they earned credit; unofficial copies can be uploaded for review, and officials are required before enrollment.
A degree earned outside the US also needs an evaluated transcript from a NACES member, with WES and ECE as Siena's preferred evaluators, emailed by the agency to transcriptreceiving@siena.edu or mailed to the registrar (graduate international).
The agency then sets the translation rule.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or service, uploaded in your WES account (WES); ECE accepts any complete, literal translation in the same format, and sells an $85 waiver under which it translates for the report (ECE).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Siena
Undergraduates apply through the Common App or, if they have attended college, the Siena Transfer Application; transcripts come from a school official, and documents can be mailed to the Center for International Programs or emailed to admissions@siena.edu (how to apply, FAQ).
Send the English translation with the sealed original-language transcript.
Graduate applicants upload unofficial copies with the online application; the evaluation agency sends its report to transcriptreceiving@siena.edu (Graduate programs: international students, how to apply).
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Siena that means we translate your transcripts; a NACES, WES or ECE evaluation, if Siena asks for one, is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does Siena require a certified translation?
Siena asks that transcripts not in English be translated into English and does not say who must translate (International students: how to apply). A certified translation from a professional service meets that.
Do I need WES or ECE to apply to Siena as an undergraduate?
The FAQ says evaluation is done in house and transfers may be asked for one (International students: frequently asked questions); the how-to-apply page asks for a NACES course-by-course evaluation of college coursework (International students: how to apply). Confirm with Siena.
Can I email my documents to Siena?
Yes, to admissions@siena.edu, or by mail to the Center for International Programs (International students: frequently asked questions). Transcripts still need the school's seal and must come from a school official to count as official (International students: how to apply).
What do graduate applicants with a foreign degree need?
An evaluated transcript from a NACES member, preferably WES or ECE (Graduate programs: international students, how to apply).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
