How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Seattle Pacific University's undergraduate admissions wants documents in English and accepts a translation by the issuing school or one translated and notarized by a translation service, made by a trained and certified professional and never by the applicant.

SPU accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, with notarization added for $34.90 per order.

Graduate admissions is stricter: translations must come from the institution, an accredited credential service or the Ministry of Education, which eVerbary is not.

SPU at a glance

Does it accept eVerbary? Yes

SPU's undergraduate international page accepts records translated and notarized by a translation service, by a trained and certified professional (undergraduate international); an eVerbary certified translation with notarization ($34.90 per order) is that kind of translation.

For graduate admission SPU names other translators (graduate international). Policy checked on October 27, 2026.

Worth knowing about SPU

Notarized

Undergraduate rule: a translation service, translated and notarized.

Sealed envelopes

No scans, faxes or emailed documents.

Grade 9 counts

Send grades 9 to 12, even if 9 was middle school.

SPU requirements in detail

Translation

Documents must be issued in English; otherwise a translation by the issuing school, or translated and notarized by a translation service (SPU: undergraduate international students).

Who may translate

A trained and certified professional; translations by the applicant are not accepted (SPU: undergraduate international students).

Notarization

Asked for translation-service translations; eVerbary adds it at checkout for $34.90 per order.

Delivery

Records carry the issuer's stamp or seal and come in a sealed envelope from the school or another authorized institution; copies issued to you, photocopies, faxes and scanned or emailed documents are refused (SPU: undergraduate international students).

Evaluation

Admitted transfers submit a course-by-course evaluation from an AICE or NACES service, such as WES or FIS (SPU: undergraduate international students).

Graduate

Transcripts and diplomas translated by the institution, an accredited credential service or the Ministry of Education, plus a NACES course-by-course evaluation such as WES or FIS (SPU: graduate international admissions).

Undergraduate and graduate rules differ

SPU's undergraduate admissions office spells out what it accepts: a translation already made by the issuing school, or one translated and notarized by a translation service, and if you have neither its international counselor can help you find professional translators (undergraduate international).

It refuses translations you make yourself and says the translator must be a trained and certified professional. An eVerbary certified translation with notarization meets that wording.

Graduate Admissions words it differently: transcripts and diplomas translated into English by the institution, an accredited credential service or the Ministry of Education (graduate international).

That list does not include a translation company, so graduate applicants should ask Graduate Admissions before ordering, or have the school or the NACES service that evaluates the degree provide the translation.

Sealed paper, and what goes in it

Both offices refuse scans, faxes and emailed documents and want records in sealed envelopes from the issuing school or another authorized institution (SPU: undergraduate international students; graduate).

First-year applicants send transcripts for grades 9 through 12, including grade 9 even if it was part of middle school, plus final exam certificates such as A levels, HKCEE, WAEC or SMA.

Transfers send transcripts from every college attended, and after an offer of admission a course-by-course evaluation from an AICE or NACES service.

Because SPU does not accept emailed documents, ask its international counselor how it wants the translation delivered. eVerbary can mail the translation to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in a sealed, signed envelope: choose the hard copy at checkout with the office's address ($19.95 Priority or $37.95 Express in the US) and write in the order notes that it is for SPU.

Need a certified translation for SPU?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • Secondary school transcripts, grades 9 to 12
  • Final exam certificates (A levels, WAEC, SMA and others)
  • University transcripts, for transfer
  • Diplomas and degree certificates

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to SPU

  • Official records reach SPU by mail in sealed envelopes from the school (SPU: undergraduate international students).

For the translation, order it notarized and ask for the hard copy mailed to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, 3307 3rd Ave West, Seattle WA 98119; international@spu.edu answers country-specific questions.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

At SPU that means we do not produce the AICE or NACES course-by-course evaluation, and we do not fit the graduate rule, which names the institution, a credential service or the Ministry of Education.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
