How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026

Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon asks F-1 applicants to prove high school completion with a course-by-course foreign credential evaluation from a NACES member, and requires an evaluation for any coursework completed outside the US; ECE and TEC are the services its students use most, but any NACES member offering course-by-course evaluations may be accepted.

Sauk Valley's evaluation agencies, such as ECE and WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary, and for TEC eVerbary provides an ATA-certified translator on request. The evaluation itself is something we do not produce.

Sauk Valley requirements in detail

Translation

No rule of its own; foreign records reach Sauk Valley through a NACES evaluation (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

Who may translate

Set by the evaluation agency; see below.

Evaluation

Course by course, from a NACES member; ECE and TEC are the most common, and others offering course-by-course, high school and university evaluations may be accepted (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

When

For high school completion and for any coursework completed outside the US (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

Finances

Sponsor affidavit and bank statement or bank letter dated within six months; other currencies are converted to US dollars (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

English

TOEFL 61, IELTS 6, PTE 50 or Duolingo 95, or proof that secondary school was taught in English (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

What ECE, TEC and WES ask for the translation

ECE accepts any complete, literal translation in the same format as the original, including your own, or translates internally for an $85 waiver.

TEC, the other service Sauk Valley names, requires an outside translator certified by the American Translators Association, or its own team translates after your application is complete.

WES, also a NACES member, wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator and does not translate itself. If you choose TEC, ask eVerbary for a free quote for an ATA-certified translator and say it is for TEC.

A course-by-course report for high school too

Many colleges accept a general report for a high school diploma; Sauk Valley's first enrollment step asks for a course-by-course evaluation to prove you finished the equivalent of US high school (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

Order that report type, and translate every year of the transcript and the grading legend, so the agency can list each course. The same evaluation route applies to any college coursework you completed abroad.

Need a certified translation for Sauk Valley?

$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.

Documents applicants usually translate

  • High school transcripts, every year, and the diploma
  • College or university transcripts
  • Degree certificates
  • Bank statement or bank letter, if not in English

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to Sauk Valley

  • The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency's evaluation goes to the Office of Admissions and Records with your official transcripts (How to enroll as an F-1 student).

If you need a translator certified by ATA

Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:

$34.95 per page

Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian

$44.95 per page

Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian

To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for Sauk Valley, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).

We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.

For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

For Sauk Valley that means we translate your records; the NACES course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for Sauk Valley?

Yes, for TEC, through a free quote: Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian at $34.95 per page, or Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian at $44.95 per page. ATA certifies no other languages into English.

Can I translate my records myself?

For ECE, yes, if complete and word for word (ECE). TEC and WES do not accept translations by applicants.
