How we know · policy checked on October 26, 2026
Santa Fe College in Gainesville publishes no translator rule: F-1 applicants send their high school transcripts to a NACES or AICE credential evaluation company for verification, translation and a document-by-document evaluation, and foreign college coursework needs a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE member.
Santa Fe College's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; WES does not translate documents itself, so with WES you supply the translation.
You order the translation first and the agency writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Worth knowing about Santa Fe College
NACES or AICE
Both associations' members are accepted.
High school: general
Document-by-document evaluation for secondary records.
July 1
Fall deadline for new international students.
Santa Fe College requirements in detail
Translation
No translator rule; high school transcripts go to the evaluation company "for verification, translation and evaluation" (International Student Services: new F-1 students).
Who may translate
Set by the agency. WES asks for a professional translator and does not translate; ECE accepts any word-for-word translation and sells an $85 waiver.
Evaluation (F-1)
High school: document-by-document (general). College or university: course-by-course. NACES or AICE companies (International Student Services: new F-1 students).
Foreign college credit (all students)
Course-by-course from an endorsed NACES or AICE member; the school abroad sends official transcripts directly to the agency; you pay (registrar).
Where the report goes
F-1: International Student Services, international@sfcollege.edu (International Student Services: new F-1 students). Credit: mailed or sent electronically to Santa Fe College (Registrar: college transcript evaluation).
Deadlines (F-1)
New students: July 1 (fall), November 1 (spring), April 1 (summer); transfers two weeks later (International Student Services: deadlines and cost).
Processing
Transcript evaluation takes about 15 business days, longer at peak times (Registrar: college transcript evaluation).
Who translates when the agency "translates"
Santa Fe College's F-1 page sends your official high school transcripts to a NACES- or AICE-accredited company for verification, translation and evaluation (International Student Services: new F-1 students).
It does not say that the agency must make the translation, and agencies handle this differently.
WES does not offer translations: it wants an exact, word-for-word translation from a professional translator, such as a certified translation agency, and rejects translations by applicants.
ECE accepts a complete, word-for-word translation in the original format, including your own, or translates internally for its report for an $85 waiver, without giving you a translation document.
If the agency you choose asks for a translator certified by ATA, eVerbary can assign one on request for the languages ATA certifies; ask for a free quote.
High school and college: two different reports
Admission requires proof of education equal to or higher than a US high school diploma; for secondary records the report is a document-by-document (general) evaluation, and for college or university records a course-by-course evaluation (International Student Services: new F-1 students).
Translate the full high school diploma and every transcript page before opening the agency file.
For credit from a college abroad, the registrar's rule applies to every student, not only F-1: a course-by-course evaluation from an endorsed NACES or AICE member, with official transcripts sent by the institution abroad directly to the evaluator, at your cost (registrar).

Uploading the translation to Santa Fe College
The translation goes to the evaluation company with your records.
The agency mails its report to International Student Services or sends it to international@sfcollege.edu (International Student Services: new F-1 students); for transfer credit it goes to the Office of the Registrar (Registrar: college transcript evaluation).
Check the status of college transcripts on the My Status page in your eSantaFe portal (Registrar: college transcript evaluation). On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Santa Fe College that means we translate your records; the NACES or AICE evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
