How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Saint Leo University asks every international applicant to its University Campus for an official evaluation from a NACES-approved agency, and recognizes foreign diplomas and credits once the credentials are received and translated where necessary; it sets no translation rule of its own.
Saint Leo's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it to the agency with your records; the agency then writes the evaluation, which we do not provide.

Saint Leo requirements in detail
Translation
Saint Leo states no rule on who translates; foreign credits are recognized once credentials are received and translated where necessary (2026-2027 undergraduate academic catalog).
Who may translate
Set by the evaluation agency: WES wants a professional translator, ECE accepts any word-for-word translation, TEC wants ATA-certified.
Evaluation
An official evaluation from a NACES-approved agency, part of the application (2026-2027 undergraduate academic catalog).
Credit
Granted per NAFSA and AACRAO guidance; diplomas beyond high school may earn up to one year of credit, set once syllabi, catalogs and translations are complete (2026-2027 undergraduate academic catalog).
English
TOEFL iBT 45, IELTS 5.0, PTE 40 or Duolingo 80 (2026-2027 undergraduate academic catalog).
Graduate
A US equivalency evaluation certified by an approved evaluation service must accompany foreign transcripts; send them to grad.admissions@saintleo.edu (graduate social work).
Contact
International admissions: intladmission@saintleo.edu (Center for Global Engagement).
What the agencies ask for the translation
Saint Leo accepts any NACES-approved agency, so the agency you choose sets the translation rule.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator, such as a translation agency, and does not accept translations by applicants.
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver. The Evaluation Company accepts outside translations only from translators certified by ATA.
Choose the agency first, then order the translation that fits its rule.
Syllabi and translations decide your credit
Saint Leo recognizes international diplomas and credits from accredited secondary and post-secondary schools once official documents are received and translated, and it grants credit following NAFSA and AACRAO guidance.
A diploma that shows study beyond high school may bring up to one year of university credit, but the Registrar and the academic divisions fix the courses only once course syllabi, catalogs and credential translations are complete (catalog).
If you want credit, translate course descriptions as well as the transcript.
Graduate programs set their own requirements; social work, for example, asks for a US equivalency evaluation certified by an approved service, sent with the transcripts by email or mail to Graduate Admissions (Graduate social work admissions).

- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Saint Leo
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends its official evaluation to Saint Leo. Unofficial transcripts are listed for the application itself (Center for Global Engagement: international admissions).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Saint Leo that means we translate your records and course descriptions; the NACES evaluation is ordered by you from the agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
