How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Patrick & Henry Community College requires transcripts from colleges outside the US to be evaluated by and received from a credentialing agency, and its credit handbook says they are translated into English and evaluated course by course by agencies such as ECE, WES, Global Credential Evaluators and Foundation for International Services.
P&HCC's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; GCE takes only ATA-certified translators, whom eVerbary can assign on request.
You order the translation first, then the evaluation, which we do not provide.

ECE, FIS, GCE and WES.

Fall deadline for new F-1 students.
P&HCC requirements in detail
Translation
Foreign transcripts are translated into English and evaluated for course-by-course credit (credit handbook).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts any word-for-word translation; GCE only ATA-certified translators.
Evaluation
Non-US college transcripts must be evaluated and received from a credentialing agency; NACES lists them (International students).
Agencies named
Educational Credential Evaluators, Foundation for International Services, Global Credential Evaluators and World Education Services (Transfer evaluation and credit for prior learning handbook (PDF)).
Where it goes
Evaluations are mailed to the Office of Admissions and Records, 645 Patriot Avenue, Martinsville, VA 24112 (International students).
Deadlines (F-1)
New students: fall July 1, spring November 1. US transfers: August 1 and December 1. No summer admission (International students).
Bank statement
In English and US dollars, showing readily available funds (International students).
What each listed agency asks for the translation
P&HCC's handbook names four agencies, and their rules differ (credit handbook). WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, not by the applicant.
ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Global Credential Evaluators accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; if you choose GCE, eVerbary can assign an ATA-certified translator on request (see below).
Credit rules at P&HCC
The handbook asks for a course-by-course report rather than a degree equivalency, and the student pays for it.
No credit is awarded for English Composition from foreign transcripts, and credits count only if they apply to your program (Transfer evaluation and credit for prior learning handbook (PDF)).
F-1 applicants may choose only Education, General Studies, Health Sciences, Science or Social Sciences, the programs approved for F-1 students (international students).
Need a certified translation for P&HCC?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- College or university transcripts from abroad
- Degree certificates
- Bank statements or bank certification, in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to P&HCC
The translation goes to the agency with your transcripts; the agency mails its evaluation to P&HCC's Office of Admissions and Records in Martinsville (International students). Supplemental F-1 forms go to admissions@patrickhenry.edu.
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for P&HCC, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For P&HCC that means we translate your transcripts and bank documents; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from ECE, WES or another NACES agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Which evaluation agencies does P&HCC list?
ECE, Foundation for International Services, Global Credential Evaluators and WES; other NACES members are on the NACES site (Transfer evaluation and credit for prior learning handbook (PDF)).
Will I get English Composition credit from my foreign transcript?
No. P&HCC awards no English Composition credit from foreign transcripts (Transfer evaluation and credit for prior learning handbook (PDF)).
Does my bank statement need to be in English?
Yes. P&HCC asks for a bank statement or bank certification in English and US dollars (International students).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for P&HCC?
Yes, on request, for example if you use Global Credential Evaluators. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for Patrick & Henry Community College and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
