How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
Notre Dame of Maryland University asks international applicants for a course-by-course evaluation, by a NACES member, of all secondary school records (with grades for the last four years) and any university studies abroad; it publishes no translation rule of its own.
NDMU's evaluation agencies, such as WES and ECE, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary; its linked evaluation portal is The Evaluation Company, which asks for an ATA-certified translator that eVerbary can assign on request. The evaluation is something we do not provide.

NDMU requirements in detail
Translation
NDMU states no translation rule; records from abroad reach it through the NACES evaluation (International students admissions information).
Who may translate
Set by the agency: WES wants a professional translator; ECE accepts any word-for-word translation; TEC only ATA-certified translators.
Evaluation
Course-by-course, by a NACES member, for all secondary schools (grades for the last four years) and universities abroad (International students admissions information).
Evaluation portal
NDMU's "transcript evaluation portal" link opens an application with SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company (International students admissions information).
Application
First-year students apply through the Common Application; graduate students through the NDMU application (International students admissions information).
English
TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110, sent to Processing@ndm.edu; TOEFL by January for fall (International students admissions information).
High school, course by course
NDMU asks for more than a diploma equivalency: the evaluation of your secondary record must be course-by-course and include the grades and coursework for the last four years of high school, together with any university studies abroad (international application requirements).
Translate every year of the secondary record, the high school diploma and any university transcripts before you open the agency file.
What the agencies ask for the translation
NDMU's portal link goes to The Evaluation Company, which accepts outside translations only from translators certified by the American Translators Association; eVerbary can assign one on request (see below).
Any other NACES member is also acceptable: WES wants a word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, not by the applicant, and ECE accepts complete, word-for-word translations, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver.
Need a certified translation for NDMU?
$24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages. See the price before you pay.
Documents applicants usually translate
- Secondary school transcripts, last four years, with grades
- Secondary school diploma or leaving certificate
- University transcripts and degree certificates
- Bank statements for the financial statement, if not in English
What an eVerbary translation includes
- A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
- $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.
Uploading the translation to NDMU
The translation goes to the NACES agency with your records; the agency sends its course-by-course report to NDMU (International students admissions information).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
If you need a translator certified by ATA
Some offices accept only a translator who is personally certified by the American Translators Association (ATA). eVerbary assigns one on request, for the languages ATA certifies into English:
$34.95 per page
Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian
$44.95 per page
Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian
To order it, ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for NDMU, which program it is for, and that you need a translator individually certified by ATA, plus anything else the office asks for (notarization, delivery by email to the office).
We confirm the price and the translator before you pay. ATA does not certify other languages into English, so no translator anywhere holds ATA certification for them.
For those languages we provide a notarized certified translation instead, at $44.95 per page plus notarization ($34.90 per order); ask the office to confirm it accepts that, and write its answer in the quote notes.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For NDMU that means we translate your records; the course-by-course evaluation is ordered by you from TEC, WES or another NACES member.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Does NDMU need a course-by-course evaluation of my high school record?
Yes, by a NACES member, with grades and coursework for the last four years (International students admissions information).
Must I use the evaluation portal NDMU links?
NDMU asks for a NACES member; its portal link is an application with SpanTran, now The Evaluation Company (International students admissions information).
Which English tests does NDMU accept?
TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5 or Duolingo 110, among others (International students admissions information).
Can eVerbary provide an ATA-certified translator for NDMU?
Yes, on request, for example if you use The Evaluation Company. Ask for a free quote and write in the notes that the translation is for an evaluation for Notre Dame of Maryland University and needs a translator individually certified by ATA. ATA certifies Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Russian and Ukrainian ($34.95 per page) and Japanese, Korean, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Croatian, Danish and Persian ($44.95 per page) into English; no other languages.
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
