How we know · policy checked on October 27, 2026
New River Community College asks students who want international coursework counted toward a degree to have it translated and/or evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service; it requires no specific service and lists World Education Services, noting that WES does not provide translation services, as well as AACRAO and the NACES directory.
New River's evaluation agencies, such as WES, accept certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
You order the translation first and send it with your records to the agency; the evaluation is something we do not provide.

New River requirements in detail
Translation
Coursework from abroad must be translated and/or evaluated by a professional credential evaluation service to count for credit (International student admissions).
Who may translate
Not limited by New River; it lists WES with the note that WES does not provide translation services (International student admissions).
Evaluation
No specific service required; WES and AACRAO are listed, and NACES has a further list (International student admissions).
Transcripts
F-1 transfer students present transcripts from all previous schools, including non-US colleges and universities (International student admissions).
Where it goes
An official copy of the evaluated transcript to Admissions & Records, 5251 College Drive, Dublin, VA 24084 (International student admissions).
Deadline (F-1)
July 1, 2026 for the fall 2026 semester (International student admissions).
The translation comes before the agency
New River words its rule as "translated and/or evaluated" and leaves the choice of service to you, listing agencies former students have used (international admissions).
The first one, World Education Services, carries a note that it does not provide translation services, so a record not in English has to be translated before you open the WES file.
WES wants an exact, word-for-word translation by a professional translator or translation service, not by the applicant.
If you use another NACES member instead, check its rule: ECE, for example, accepts any complete, word-for-word translation, including your own, and sells an $85 translation waiver. See translation for credential evaluation.
An evaluation is not a promise of credit
New River warns that an evaluation does not ensure credits will transfer: Admissions and Records reviews every transcript to decide whether the coursework applies to your New River program (International student admissions).
Paper applications for the listed agencies may be available at the Admissions and Records Office in Rooker Hall, and the International Student Advisor answers questions on the F-1 process.

Uploading the translation to New River
The translation goes to WES or the agency you chose, with your records; the agency's official evaluated transcript goes to Admissions & Records in Dublin, Virginia (International student admissions).
On request we can email the translation directly to the admissions office.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For New River that means we translate your transcripts; the credential evaluation is ordered by you from WES, AACRAO or another agency.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
