NMJC requirements in detail

Translation

Documents not issued in English must be accompanied by certified translations or evaluations (International students).

Who may translate

What to prove

Graduation from an approved secondary school and eligibility for a recognized university in your home country (International students).

Originals

Photocopies, faxed and notarized copies are not accepted; official records carry original signatures, stamps or seals (International students).

Deadlines

April 1 for fall and September 1 for spring (International students).

Where

The application and all documents go to international@nmjc.edu (International students).

Original records, certified translations

NMJC is strict about the record and open about the translation: it rejects photocopies, faxes and notarized copies of your secondary school documents and wants originals with signatures, stamps or seals, but it accepts a certified translation from any translator, or an evaluation instead (International students).

The record must show graduation and that you could enter a recognized university at home, so include the diploma or leaving certificate with the transcript.

Hobbs, F-1 and the early deadline

NMJC's international deadlines come early: April 1 for fall and September 1 for spring, and the I-20 is issued only after every requirement is in (International students). English proficiency can be shown by TOEFL 72 internet-based with 18 in each section, IELTS 6.0, or several US study routes.

What an eVerbary translation includes

  • A complete English translation of every page, stamps, seals and handwritten notes included, laid out like the original so each line can be matched.
  • Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
  • A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.
  • $24.95 per page of up to 250 words, certification included; 24 hours for one to three pages as standard. Regular clients who need it can get delivery in as little as 30 minutes, on request.

Uploading the translation to NMJC

  • Email the application with the records and their certified translations to international@nmjc.edu; original records follow as NMJC instructs (International students).

  • We can send the translation directly to the admissions office by email on request.

What we do not do

eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.

How to order

  1. Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
  2. Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
  3. Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.

Frequently asked questions

Does NMJC accept an eVerbary translation?

NMJC asks for certified translations and does not say who must make them (International students); a certified translation from a professional service qualifies.

Do I need an evaluation as well as a translation?

NMJC asks for certified translations or evaluations, so either one accompanies the documents (International students).

Can I send notarized copies?

No, photocopies, faxed and notarized copies are not accepted (International students).

When are the deadlines?

April 1 for fall and September 1 for spring (International students).

Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?

No. The translation reproduces the grades and the grading scale exactly as they appear. A GPA conversion is credential evaluation, which the institution or an evaluation agency does.
