Mount Mary University asks applicants with documents not in English to submit precise word-for-word English translations with the originals, and international graduate applicants must have transcripts translated by a certified translator or service.
Mount Mary University accepts certified translations from professional services such as eVerbary.
All coursework and degrees from outside the US also need an evaluation (a general report for first-year students, course by course for transfer and graduate students) from ECE, One Earth or WES, which we do not provide.

Sample translation: a Congolese secondary school transcript
This is what an order looks like when it is delivered, with a fictitious student. The PDF starts with the signed certification page, and the translation follows the original line for line: every abbreviation is explained, stamps, seals and signatures are noted in brackets, and the grid stays the same, so an admissions officer or a credential evaluator can match it without guessing.

What to notice
- Two school years in the same grid as the original: every subject, grading period, exam and total, so each grade can be read against its maximum.
- The French rating abbreviations are translated (TB becomes VG, Very good), and every abbreviation is explained in a translator's note at the foot of the same page, including one the original never defines.
- Dates are written the US way (the original's 02/07/2015 is February 7, 2015).
- The photo, seals and signatures are noted in brackets where they appear.

Mount Mary requirements in detail
Translation
Precise word-for-word English translations, submitted together with the foreign-language documents (evaluation guide).
Who may translate (graduate)
A certified translator or service (International students).
Who may translate (guide)
The school attended, your own complete literal translation, authorized translators in your country, or a translation service of your choice in the US (Foreign educational credential evaluation requirement (PDF)).
Evaluation
General report for first-year, course-by-course for transfer; ECE, One Earth or WES; graduate also Educational Perspectives; student athletes must use InCred (International students).
Example fees
At ECE, a general report with grade average costs $130 and a course-by-course report $195 (Foreign educational credential evaluation requirement (PDF)).
Records from the US, Guam, Micronesia, Puerto Rico
Official transcripts, no evaluation (International students).
Finances
Not needed for the admission decision; financial support form and an official bank statement come later for the I-20 (International students).
Two levels, two translation rules
Mount Mary's evaluation guide, written for all international students, accepts several kinds of word-for-word translation: one prepared by the school or university you attended, your own (as long as it is complete and literal), one by authorized translators in your home country, or one from a US translation service, with arrangements made directly with the service you choose (evaluation guide).
The graduate steps on the international page are stricter: transcripts from the university that awarded your bachelor's degree "must be translated into English by a certified translator or service" (international students).
If you apply to a master's or doctoral program, a self-translation will not do; a certified translation from a professional service meets both rules.
What each evaluation agency asks for the translation
Mount Mary does not evaluate foreign records itself.
ECE, which has a custom Mount Mary application with a 10% discount and sends the report to the university at no extra charge, accepts complete, literal translations, including your own, or sells an $85 waiver under which it translates internally.
One Earth, in Madison, usually accepts literal translations, even your own. WES requires a professional translator and does not accept your own.
Educational Perspectives (graduate) accepts translations from a reputable agency or certified professional translator; InCred, required for athletes, does not appear in the sources we read.

- Grades exactly as recorded, with the grading scale the document prints. We never convert marks to a US GPA.
- A signed certificate of translation accuracy on letterhead, with our contact details, delivered as a PDF you can upload.

Uploading the translation to Mount Mary
Send the translations with your original-language documents to the evaluation agency; with ECE, use the Mount Mary custom application so the report reaches the university digitally (International students).
Graduate applicants also submit official transcripts with the certified translation through the Graduate International Student Application.
What we do not do
eVerbary is a translation service, not a credential evaluation service: we do not issue evaluations, US equivalencies or GPA conversions, and we cannot send documents on behalf of the school that issued them.
For Mount Mary that means we translate your transcripts and diplomas; the general or course-by-course evaluation comes from ECE, One Earth, WES or, for athletes, InCred.
How to order
- Scan or photograph every page of the document, front and back, including any stamps on the reverse.
- Upload it, choose the language and "certified", and see the price before paying.
- Receive the PDF, usually within 24 hours for one to three pages, and upload it with the copy of the original wherever the institution asks for it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I translate my own documents for Mount Mary?
The evaluation guide accepts your own complete, literal translation (Foreign educational credential evaluation requirement (PDF)), but graduate applicants need a certified translator or service (International students).
Which evaluation report do I need?
A general report if you are a first-year student, course by course if you are a transfer or graduate student (International students).
Which agencies does Mount Mary accept?
ECE, One Earth and WES; graduate pages add Educational Perspectives, and student athletes must use InCred (International students).
Is there a discount on the evaluation?
Yes. ECE's custom Mount Mary application gives 10% off and sends the report free (International students).
Do I need to send bank statements before I am admitted?
No. Financial documents are not required for the admission decision (International students).
Will eVerbary convert my grades to a US GPA?
